|
|
I just found out that my husband is retiring and we are moving back to SC in 10 weeks or at the end of September. I have gained a few pounds back in my 2 years here in VA .
I am, quite frankly, embarrased by my weight gain and also very vain. I need to lose those pounds before I go back to my old stomping ground. I want to be wearing my old clothes again.
I will be leaving behind my kiddos and grandkids, but I am grateful for the time we have had. It was way too short.
Here is my plan:
1. I will exercise every day-walking at least 2 miles
2. Not eat at nite after 7 pm.
3. Eat low carb/low calorie.
I thought if I started a challenge for myself and made it public it might keep me honest and of course I can count on Kelley to be my personal trainer!!
So far today I have walked 2 miles and eaten very well.
keep you posted,

Day 1
Today started out very well. I have just returned from a 1 3/4 mile walk. A hike really. Walked outside instead of on the treadmill since it was cool enough outside. because of all the hills in my neighborhood, I stopped short of my 2 mile goal, but maybe tomorrow I will make it!
My biggest problem is the nighttime snacking thing. I am getting into the almonds and walnuts and that adds a lot of unnecessary calories. Anyone got any suggestions?? Hmmm???

Day 2
Today has hardly syarted yet but I think it will be cool enough outside to walk.
I succombed to the almonds last nite but not too many. I need suggestions!
Had Tuscan Chicken for dinner and a tossed salad with a wonderful vinagrette:
1 part whole grain Dijon mustard(critical component)
1 part Balsamic vinegar
2 parts EVOO
Fantastic!

Congratulations on your move, Kay!! I know this must be an exciting time for you. We'll be here to cheer you on and keep your feet to the fire....or should I say pavement.... as you walk away those pounds. Your pictures look great, by the way. You certainly don't look like you've gained any weight.
I know about stalling. I'm having a problem losing right now. I only have about 20 lbs to lose, but they seem to like living right where they are. I have a thyroid problem, and am on meds. But I've been told that even with meds, it can still prove problematic when trying to lose weight. I'll say!!
Anyhow, keep those feet walking!! Happy moving day to you!!

Thanks, June. I appreciate the compliment. The photo is 2 years old ,but it is a favorite. The previous one is more recent, but I like seeing me in red.
I believe that we should put the best pictures of ourselves in front of us to motivate us. Some people use the really bad ones for motivation. I keep them around (I have had to prove I was really me!!), but they don't motivate me--they depress me!
Age is such a factor! But I am determined to get the weight off!
Thansk for the encouragement!

I don't like pictures of me at all. I avoid the camera like it was poison! By the way, your art work is beautiful. You're a very talented lady! I personally failed paint by number, so I have no talent for painting at all. I stick to stained glass & have to use patterns because I can't create my own.
Beautiful work, congrats!!

Days 3 & 4
Well, I walked my 2 miles yesterday and ate well. Still having trouble with nite time snacking.
I will walk my 2 miles today too. Got my workout clothes on, just waiting for the sun to come up!

Days 5 & 6
I walked over 2 miles each day this week. Today I am taking the day off. I slept in and didn't make it out the door, but, I have Grandma duty tonite and I will need the energy and extra sleep!
I have been in deep purple ketosis all week and except for the nuts, didnt eat too many calories. I will weigh in on Monday and post my results!

Hi Kay,
I know what you mean about eating at night. My best friend and I went to Kelsey's after he got off work at 9 pm. last night. I ate on plan, but I shouldn't have been eating so late... in addition I had dinner after I got home so really shouldn't have been eating at all!
I'll just call it a moment of "temporary insanity" and keep going. I do need to step up the exercise though. When is ten weeks done... ie. the end of your challenge? I think I'm starting a little late but I'm game. Put me down for ten pounds lol. I just want to get over this dang plateau.
Best,

I was shooting for the end of September. That is my husband's retirement date. I just needed a goal, something to focus on. Know what I mean? Please join in! I wanted a way to be accountable. I will post my loss (hopefully no gains ) every week. I am craving sweets a lot today. I may make some low carb brownies!

Hi Kay! I'm new to the forum, and I was intrigued by the idea of a challenge. Sometimes I need someone to help spur me on! I have been exercising religiously at the gym all summer, 3 X week, but I haven't lost a single pound. I bought a body fat monitor scale a couple of weeks ago and was encouraged to see that I've gained 12 lb. of muscle! I am way overweight, though, at 210, so I am returning to a strict low-carb regimen to try to get off some of these extra pounds of fat. One thing that I've read recently is how important adequate hydration is. My friend sent me an e-mail just today about the effects of dehydration on your body. It can slow down your metabolism as much as 3 percent, and in one study, nearly 100 percent of midnight snackers were satisfied just drinking one glass of water. I don't know if this could apply to you or not, but I thought maybe it could help. I don't remember all of the stats. but I can dig them up for you if you're interested. Godspeed on your weight loss journey! _________________

Hi Kay. Just wanted to say congrats on your walking and challenge. I know it's a pain when the scale doesn't move. But when the body fat decreases.. Yeah! I'm starting my own challenge today. Got up this morning and looked in the mirror and .... Geez, something isn't working and I better start NOW.
Congrats on retiring back to SC. |
