Hey all,
I'm about to come into an extra long lunch time (1 hour as apposed to 30 minutes). I don't tend to eat much during my lunch time now and at my new job, I probably won't either. I am not usually hungry in the mornings and early afternoons.
So I was thinkig I could use that time to exercise. I don't really have the money for a gym, so that's out of the question, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do...One important piece of information though---this new job is in a not very nice area of the most dangerous city in Massachusetts (Springfield). I don't think it would be good for me to walk around the block.
I know everyone has some really creative minds, so maybe someone has an idea for how I can turn this lunch time into my exercise time.
Thanks all!

| Hi, does the building have stairs? You could always do a little stretching and go up and down the stairs a few times. That would be great for the legs. Is there any way to do a few lap around the building? When I used to work in a 2 story building, it had a indoor and outdoor stair case, so I would go up the indoor than back down, walk to the outdoor and do the same, then back to the indoor. All my co-workers looked at me funny the first few times, but it was good exercise. Just a thought. |

Hi Melinda ~ You mentioned walking, so I think you might like Leslie Sansome's "Walk Away The Pounds" tapes/DVDs.
You could even check with your library and see if they have any - view them or try them and see what you think. Then if you like them, purchase them...
I love our library! Ours is all online so I can sit at my own computer and reserve, etc. You could type in different names or subject matters relating to exercise and see what they've got -- it's great!
I've used the "WATP" tapes and they are a great workout - I bet you'd like them. *Ü* _________________ Started Somersizing Feb. 2001

We do have stairs, unfortunately, it's an old Georgian/Victorian style house and windy stairs that creak real bad. I'd probably tick off my new coworkers. But that's a good suggestion. At the school where I was working, there was an elevator for the kids who can't walk, and I only ever used it a couple of times when we had that heat spell and I got dizzy going up the stairs. 3 flights!! I've always used the stairs when I have the choice for that exact reason
Yep, I've got WATP and use it a little, when I can turn the volume down and go along that way (she's a bit too perky for me now). Mom asked to borrow the DVDs for awhile so they're up in Vermont. I'm hoping that once things settle down, I may be able to afford a YMCA membership and get into some exercise classes there. I'd absolutely love to do a water class or a kickboxing class or some kind of martial arts. I used to do Karate when I was younger but it got too expensive for my mom and back then, it was just me and her.
Anyways, thanks for your suggestions! I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do, but I'll figure something out
