Ok, I have to confess....I just want to see how many people view this post, wondering what my problem in bed is!! Embarassed

Actually, I am referring to sleep apnea. I wear a mask and I am wondering how many people out there do also. And, if anyone has lost weight and no longer needs the mask?

I was doing so good over the summer on my program, but then got sidetracked by a kidney stone and the birth of my granddaughter. It has been difficult to get back on program. My hope in life is that I can get the weight off, manage my Type 2 diabetes and hopefully stop using the mask for my apnea. But, I may be asking for too much.

Jeff, Hey buddy! Very Happy I just wanted to throw in a cheerful motivational message to ya! I have never had to wear a mask but have had patients that did and with weight loss have been able to come off of them. Don't get discouraged, we have all slid backwards before! Just think of the progress you made, the foods you ate that stepped ya back a little and then ask yourself, "was the taste of that food worth the results I got?" After a while, this really program your mind to train your body to find certain foods repulsive. Remember mind over matter! I used to love Mcdonalds french fries and after programming my mind against them, I almost get sick to my stomach when I even smell them. Wish this would work on cigarettes! Trying to quit without success! Nasty, Nasty habit and to beat it all, my daughter is an instructor and mentor in her school for RAZE which is an anti drug/ anti smoking campaign! I know better but like Allen Jackson sings, "everything I love is killing me, cigarettes, Jack Daniels and caffeine" Got to find a way! However back to you! I know you can get back on track, don't let a step backward make you forget the three steps you have made forward because you still are two steps ahead! (is it me or did that just sound like a 5th grade math question? Laughing) Once we mess up a little, it is so easy to just keep going and saying, oh well, I messed yesterday up what will today hurt. But then today turns into tomorrow, then the next day and before we know it we are back to square one and feeling depressed, guilty and disappointed! Get back on and remember **David puts on his Rob Schneider mask**you can do it! I'm behind ya all the way buddy and if ya need encouragement or just want to talk, you know where to find me, David Wink

Thanks David....I can always count on you for some encouraging words. Yep, a good reason to not go off program is that it is so hard to get back on.

Just talked to my wife Debbie and she is making Stella muffins and brownies....that will certainly help!

Talk to you later, my friend. Laughing

Hello Jeff, I also have sleep apnea, and use a cpap. I started out on the mask and didn't do well. Most of the time I would end up taking it off in my sleep.

About 6-8 months ago, my Dr. wrote me a prescription for nasal pillows instead. Wow! what a difference. At first I had to use a chin strap, since I wouldn't keep my mouth shut (often a problem when I am awake too) Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy but once I got used to them, I don't have to use the chin strap anymore.

It has made a world of difference, I am so much more rested now.

I also hope getting down to a reasonable weight will allow me to come off the machine, as well as all of the meds I am on. My Dr. tells me this is all possible.

Take care,

Mark

Mark, thanks buddy! What a very useful post. I've never heard of nasal pillows. I will bring it up to my doctor when I have my next appointment.

Like you, I plan to get my weight down to a point where hopefully I won't need anything!

Have my new iPod shuffle and am starting to hit the gym! Today is the first day of the rest of my life...yeah!!

Thanks again, Mark. Very cool !!!
