|
|
This is how I make my iced tea and it is so easy, good and satisfying! Just thought I would share and make sure you follow the directions as that is what makes it so good! (if tea is allowed to boil, it gets cloudy and bitter and I hate cloudy tea!) Hope you enjoy,
David's Easy Lemon/Ginger Iced Tea
Ingredients
4 Family sized tea bags (I use Louisianne but I have used green tea too)
1/4 cup lemon juice (I use ReaLemon brand)
1 Fresh Lemon sliced or in wedges (for garnish)
1 & 3/4 cup Splenda
1/2 teaspoon ginger
Instructions
Take one quart water and bring to a rolling boil. Once boiling add the tea bags in, remove from heat, add ginger, stir and cover immediately. Let sit for 10 minutes. While tea is sitting, take an empty gallon jug add 1 quart water, lemon juice and Splenda. After the ten minutes have passed, lift tea bags out of the pot and pour the warm tea into the jug. Take the tea bags and dip them in fresh cold water in the same pot and gently squeeze them and discard. Pour that "tea bag rinse" water into jug also. fill to top with water, stir thoroughly until mixed and then serve over a FULL glass of ice with a slice or wedge of fresh lemon and enjoy! (Sometimes I cut up the lemon in slices and place them in the tea too but only when I am going to have guest and know the gallon will all be drunk that day as the lemon will turn ivory/tannish color and leave pulp in your tea if left in to long) Also, always keep Tea refrigerated as it gets a "mildewish" taste to it if left out and it will taste awful!

Kind of like a more refreshing version of Snapple! (and much better for you)
Going to serve it to the Father in Law on Father's day to see what he thinks. Maybe it will make him want to give me more plants for my garden |
