OK guys, per your request, here is my recipe for my biscuits. They are really good and fluffy. remember to NOT overwork the dough, cover them after baking is a tip you don't won't to forget either! Hope you enjoy them and remember this should be used as a treat as they do contain about 3-4 carbs per biscuit. Makes a great Sunday Breakfast with LC gravy, fried sausage, eggs, fried green tomatoes (if ya don't like the fried green tomatoes, substitute with zucchini hash browns) and SF jam! Enjoy em and let me kno what you thought if ya tried em,
David Wink
David's Biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups Carbalose flour Arrow http://www.netrition.com/tova_carbalose_page.html
2 Tbs baking Powder (I use Clabber girl)
1/2 Tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening +2 Tablespoons set aside separately (I Use Crisco)
1 cup Hoods milk or half n half
Directions
Place 2 tablespoons of shortening on bread pan and place in an oven set to 400 degrees
combine flour baking powder and salt, whisk till mixed.
Add shortening and cut it into the dry mix till it feels like corn meal.
add liquid and mix just till moistened and mixed. turn dough out onto a carbalose floured counter top and knead 4-5 times. (over kneading makes them tougher so be careful!) Roll (I pat with my hands) out to 1/2 inch thick and cut out biscuits. (I use an old jelly jar or glass, it will work fine)
remove bread pan and being careful here (Dinah Wink )take cut biscuit, lay in oil to coat and then turn it over. Continue this with remaining dough and bake for 15-20 minutes. When bottoms are brown, turn oven to broil and brown the tops (watch carefully so you don't burn them) remove from oven and cover with a dish towel. Let set for 5 minutes.
