After my son was born, my husband and I bought an eliptical machine for our anniversary gift to ourselves. He wanted a stationary bike because his knees get sore and I wanted a treadmill. So after working with a trainer and working out on some in physical therepy we agreed on the eliptical. What we quickly found out was...wow...5 min on it was eternity! My husband has given up on it but still stays active as a firefighter. So I kept trying to complete one half hour program on it (pathetic...I know!) Well, I ended up getting pregnant again...this time with twins. So Dr. advised not to use it till after the twins were born and stick with walking. So now my girls are 9 months old (they were born 7 lbs 2 oz and 7 bls 5 oz.) and I have challenged myself back to the eliptical. I started out 5 days ago...and guess what???? I did it!!! I worked up to the whole 1/2 hour session!! Im so proud of myself! It wasn't that hard either. I think the hardest part was around the 15min. mark. But I had a really good book I was reading to distract me and I think that really helped! So now I want to maybe start out with some strength training with the bands? Does any one use them....any workout program to recommend? I am trying the rubber band workout because we don't have a lot of room and I have 3 children... Very Happy I think I will go take some motrin now.... Laughing

Congratulations Julia!! You Did It!!! You should be very proud of yourself. I know you'll continue to challenge yourself and succeed.

I use the Leslie Sansone walking dvd's. Some of her dvd's use boosters such as the ab belt, or the toning band, or hand held weights. I haven't tried anything but the weights so far. I love her program tho. The Walk Slim series is wonderful. The movements aren't difficult & are very easy on the joints. In the 4 Fast Miles she uses intervals of fast walking and jogging. If the jogging is to hard on your joints, then she says to just do the same movements as fast walking. Check out her website sometime.....lesliesansone.com. There are tons of things to choose from. I also buy them from Walmart and sometimes Target.

Good luck & keep up the good work!

Congratulations Julia,

You have to be very proud of yourself. The first of the year I started to use the eliptical trainer at work.I started out with 5 minutes and had worked up to 15(thought I'd die)then my hips started to bother me(nothing to do with the machine, just gettin older, lol) I really do kinda miss it though, gosh I can't belive that I just said that Laughing .On some medication and hips seem to be alittle better,I'm thinkin about starting over as I haven't been doing anything.Anyway! you keep on a movin girl!!!!
