I know for me, the weekends are tougher than weekdays. Weekends bring a different schedule, and more social situations. Today I am going shopping with a friend, and then going to visit another friend for the weekend. This will include restuant meals, and beers on the deck (Its supposed to be 70 here today!!). I know I will have control, but it is defiantly a challenge.

What do you guys do to keep yourself on track when your schedule changes - such as the weekend?

STOP MAKING EXCUSES.
What you eat and when you eat it are your decisions, and yours alone.

THERE ARE A MILLION REASONS.
Special events, free food, peer pressure, depression, it tastes good, temptations, etc. Pick one and be miserable.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
Be strong, make a conscious decision about what you want. If you want to cheat, do it, but know it was your decision.

I MADE A LOT OF EXCUSES.
I played that game for far too long -- 1 year on LC -- whining, making excuses, feeling sorry for myself. Then, after 3 months of insanity -- on, off, on -- I just got tired of it and went back to Induction and now I'm losing.

TEMPTATION IS EVERYWHERE.
Yesterday my wife and I were in Winter Haven, Florida on business. We stopped in Ryan's Steakhouse for lunch. I was surround by incredible temptations -- some of my favorite foods, fried shrimp, mashed potatoes, a desert bar and a large bowl of red, plump, fresh strawberries.
I stayed true to my Meat and Egg Fast. I had some baked chicken, hard boiled eggs and pepperoni. Two police officers sat nearby, gorging themselves on my favorite -- strawberries.

BE STRONG, BE SUCCESSFUL
If you are strong and stay true to LC, you will feel better each and every day. Last night I ate some chicken wings and turkey. This morning I feel great, I'm definitely losing. Every time I go to the bathroom, numerous times a day, I wave goodbye to the fat leaving my body.

THE WEEKEND?
Yeah, the weekend could be an excuse. But not for me, not this weekend, not any weekend. I got some fat that's invaded my body and overstayed its welcome, so I'm moving the fat out and frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn about the weekend.

GOOD LUCK.

I usually eat more on weekends than I do through the week. It's all low carb food so I don't feel guilty. I actually enjoy having the time to prepare more of my favorite things. Even though I really enjoying sitting outside drinking a few beers with my hubby I don't do that when I'm really being true to my diet. Alcohol adds the pounds and it takes forever to get rid of them.

We went to Ryan's the other night and none of the sinful foods bothered me. I like the way the low carb foods have a red spoon in them. The salad bar had everything you could think of. I had some steak, ham and a salad. For dessert I had a chunk of melon. We told the server to leave the rolls off of the table so we wouldn't be tempted.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss stopping at the bookstore having a light frappaccino like I did on my weight watcher's days. On weight watcher's we could even have a mcdonald's cone as a treat. There's not a whole lot of things to treat yourself with on low carb. If I've learned anything on this journey it's that it ain't easy. I will miss my junkfood just like ex smokers miss their cigarettes. The end results will make it all worthwhile, though.

This weekend I might endulge in a piece of Ruby Tuesday's cheesecake. It's something that I can't endulge in often because it stalls me.

Regardless of what plan you're on...whether you are in stage two, stage three or the dreaded induction...make it interesting. If you allow yourself to get bored you're headed for a binge. Make it a program you can live with. It's not important how fast it comes off. What IS important is how long you keep it off.

Good luck.

Gail

I agree with you gail. I'm pretty lax on the weekends too, but I stick with LC foods.

Today I'm a cooking machine!!! I need to get a picture of my grill when I get it loaded up. I've got Chicken Breasts, Rib Eyes, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and lots of veggies to grill. We'll eat like kings all week!

In my mind this one stands out as Rick mentioned...the above bad choices got me into this fine mess...I am sick and tired of being sick and tired and fat...

...thanks one and all for the motivation. We're worth it!

Well, thank you all for your motivating words. I am back from my weeked with the girls, and I did very well. I have yet to eat any non-low-carb food since starting, but I have had times of too much low carb food.

I posted this subject to voice my concern over changes in schedule - such as weekends and hanging with friends. I find that when I don't have the sturcture of a work day, it takes a lot more effort to stay on plan. But, I guess my concern is a good thing - I would have never thought twice about it before. The concern means I am being conscious about what I put into my body.

I missed you guys!

Trish... I know EXACTLY what you mean! The work day is so much more structured and you can plan your meals much easier... on the week ends sometimes I find myself going WAAAAYYYY too long without eating, and when I do think about it, by that time I'm really hungry! And we all know what can happen then Wink

Like you said, your concern is an indication of your awareness of the POSSIBLE pitfalls of the situation... so WOO HOO! Every step forward is a success!!!

You know it's kinda funny, I do better on the weekends! I tend to eat on the weekends, but find myself missing breakfast, and sometimes lunch too, if I'm working. That is something I'm trying to fix. I'm MAKING myself eat something every few hours. Gotta keep the furnace stoked, right????

Me, too. I have less opportunity to think about food on the weekend while I'm running around doing errands. I keep a little emergency stash in the car in case I forget to eat. Ha! Me forgetting to eat! Who'd a thunk it??

A few weeks ago my sister had a birthday party, with pizza being served. I just ate before I went there. They had ice cream cake and I just was happy with my coffee.

Weekends are hard when you have parties and things. But I love to have time to cook and not be running around like during the week.

Hubby was home tonight so we made George's pizza and a salad, It was nice to relax and enjoy something so good.

Now it's my turn to throw a party for my son on sunday. I went back and forth about what to do for food. Didn't want to order pizza's! We did BBQ last year and this year the yard isn't ready for that. We were going to order catered food but the thought of the flour..... and ugh i wasn't happy.

I went with ordering 3ft italian sub hero and a 3ft chicken cutlet hero. I figured I could take all the stuff off my bread and just enjoy myself with some salad. Oh i'm also buying ice cream cake for the rest (which i can pass up on) because I'm going to make george's cheesecake for me and whoever would like to try it.

Sounds like you have your plan in place, Lori... I know you'll be successful! Very Happy

Kind of reminds me of a saying my weight watcher leader had (way back when, when I was doing that)

She'd say, "remember the 5 P's...
Prior Planning Prevents Pudgy People! Laughing
