Ok, I tried to search the forum for cheese chips before I went and asked for help, but no luck. How do you make the chips that you can use for dips etc? I tried a bunch of batches with romano cheese and they didnt work. They just crumbled and burnt around the edges. Can anyone help? Maybe cheddar and parm chips??
Thanks!!!

Hey Karen!
I love these chips! I sometimes sprinkle a little chili powder or Tony Chacere's seasoning powder on the cheese squares before microwaving them. Gives 'em a little bit of a different flavor!
I hope ya like em!

Karen,
Sometimes I find pepper jack cheese and use that. I don't have to season those! I also do cheddar cheese, but those have to go longer in the microwave (about 2 min. for mine) and they get oily so they have to set up a little but really good served with a dill dip.

Thanks guys! Those look great! It never dawned on me to use American cheese and the microwave. Have to make a big batch because I miss my chips and crunch
Had a thought, I wonder if you baked sliced pepperoni if they would come out crispy and chip-like? Will have to experiment on that this weekend.

Karen, A lot of people nuke these in the microwave too. They put them on paper towels to soak up the grease. Every micro is different, so experiment to see how long to nuke them (if you go the micro route). _________________ Billie

Karen, I too missed the crunch for salads, soups and dips! I came up with a really good, inexpensive and tasty LC cracker treat! Try these and i bet they will cure your craving for crunch! http://stellastyle.com/community2/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7457
Take care and enjoy,

Karen, A lot of grocers have it with or near their flour.
I find it in a box (Hodgson Mill) at Wal-Mart. If I can remember correctly it is near, but not with the flour.
Another brand is Bob's Red Mill.
Also some stores like Whole Foods, Sunflower Markets, Wild Oats, etc have it in bulk (or they have the seed in bulk).
You can buy the seeds and grind your own. That is what is really best, as it can loose "strength" (nutritionally), or go rancid fairly quickly.
Also can find one or both at many health food stores.
Hope this helps. _________________ Billie

You are welcome and like Billie says I get mine (same brand) at Walmart in the flour aisle by the yeast for about 1.39 a box or at times I grind my own when i find the seeds. Take care and try them you will love them,

The cheese crisps are so divine, crispy and easy to make! I was so hungry once I got home after work yesterday and still had to cook dinner -- a couple of these held me up quite well while I waited for dinner to be done.
Thanks! I'm a huge "potato chip" fan and this definitely fills the void. _________________
