I wanted to say how important self breast exams are... the second lump on my breast was not detected on the mamogram or ultrasound I found it myself through self exam and the surgeon removed it as well as the first lump. I can understand it not showing up on the ultrasound because they were focusing on the "first" lump. I just wanted to share how important self exams are. _________________ ~Sometimes we all need a little encouragement~

That's an excellent point, Gail. Thank you for reminding us. I am really bad about doing them but I will start being better about it.

It's really important isn't it Angie? Since my first lump was found (by me) doing self exams, I'm always doing them. I'm so afraid that I will get breast cancer because of my family history and also I take hormone replacement therapy for about 12 or 13 years!! BUT my gyn. insists I stay on them I wonder sometimes, she says by having my hysterectomy so young (33yrs. old) that I absolutely need them. _________________ ~Sometimes we all need a little encouragement~

Gosh Gail, I know that is really, really tough. Have you ever gone for a second opinion? I know how controversial the topic is but I know if it were me or one of my loved ones I sure would do a lot of research on it~especially given the breast cancer history. Not to imply that you haven't, however!

Angie, I have researched it like crazy! it's not very good BUT I have had two back surgeries and they had me go off of them (premarin) each time for about a month due to blood clots (I think that's why they said) anyway I was miserable without them! hot/cold sweats and mood swings worse than I have them know! I love my Dr. and I trust her completely saying that, no I haven't gotten a second opinion other than my aunt who is a nurse she says stay on them who knows?? I'm always thinking about not taking them but I can't stand it without them make sense? I had/have two aunts with breast cancer my Dads sister passed away I think she was in her fiftys and Moms sister got it when she was in her fortys she had surgery and chemo so far she's doing good I'm scared though _________________ ~Sometimes we all need a little encouragement~

| Self exams are VERY important. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 43. I had just had an complete physical mammo and all. A month later I found a lump and they sent me back for another mammo and ultrasound and they still said it was nothing to worry about. Well it was, I had surgery and they still said it wasn't cancer but when the results came back it was. I had to go back for another surgery. I am coming up on my 6th year survivorship. I thank God every day. |

Dinky, congratulations on your 6th year cancer free. I wish you a very long lifetime of being cancer free!
Gail, I figured you had done your research. It's just so uncertain, isn't it? I can totally understand your anxiety. I'd be a wreck! You know we are all pulling for you that the news will be good. I wish you the very, very best Gail. And absolutely, post it everywhere! Scream it from the mountain tops! We'll be here to celebrate with you!!!

Gail, I won't be near a computer on Wednesday. Do you think I could hear you scream all the way to Virginia Beach? Maybe I'll try to call you later that evening.
Thinking good thoughts & lots of prayers for you!
Hugs!!

Thanks Gail!! Yes, it's tomorrow....and yes you know how OLD I'll be!! I'm making my favorite chocolate brownies as we type. They're in the oven and the ganache is on the stove. We're leaving early Wednesday morning to go to VB. We fly out Saturday morning at 0-Dark-Thirty!! lol!! ( we have to be at the airport at 4 a.m.) I'll have my cell on until we get on the plane Saturday.
Have a great week. Everything is going to be just fine!
