I know someone out there has gone through what is happening to me right now. Being a big woman, and double hot natured, I am having one heck of a time with heat rashes all over my body, even in the bends of my elbows where the edge of my blouse touches my arm. I have tried Gold Bond powder, baby powder, desitin (big mistake), and even something the doctor prescribed for me. Nothing is working. The rash under my breast is now so bad its bleeding. With all I have going on here, this is the last thing I need to deal with. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what I can do? Any help would be very appreciated. I have so many strikes against me with this, the pain pills make me sweat, the diabetes makes me sweat, being overweight makes me sweat, I just do not know what to do. HELP!

oh punkin, i know just what you mean! I'm going through the same thing. I've used Gold Bond and Desitin too. Nothing seems to help. I'll be anxious to see if any one else has any remedys.

I know when the kids had chicken pox in the summer time, I ground up oatmeal in the blender and put it in a cool bath and let them play as long as they wanted in it. It seemed to help them....

Well it is me again! A man in the women's room. Surprised I hate to intrude but being a former nurse Sherrie, I have seen this a lot. The best thing to do is corn starch. Just put it on like you would powders. Do not use powders as they cake up, retain and actually draw moisture sometimes making the symptoms worse. Also keeping the breast off of the chest with a good bra really helps as well if these do not work, call your doctor and ask them to call you in a prescription for mycolog cream. We had to use this on my mother and it finally cleared her up as well very quickly and like I said they will usually call this one in without having to see you in the office.. Take care and hope this helps,
David

I'm not Sherrie, but THANKS Davie! I need to go to the store since my Low Carb Kitchen repels Corn Starch! LOL

Ha! You KNOW all the nurses are going to respond to this one!

Ok, this is the BEST stuff that I have ever worked with. This stuff is thick and forms a wonderful barrier between skin to skin contact and keeps moisture off and will quickly heal up that rash. I work with critically ill people and skin breakdown is a big problem. This stuff works like a charm. You might be able to find it at your local drug store.

Hey Punkin, do they sell that over the counter or is it an internet thing? I may stop on the way home....

I don't know for sure. Do you have Walgreens? I'd check there first. If they don't have it perhaps they can order it for you. It would be well worth ordering it online though. When tulips posted the question and I was looking to see if it was available OTC I was thrilled to find it sold at Walgreens. It's really, really good stuff.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will check it all out one by one. This is horrible. It's so raw under my breast it hurts extremely bad. The strangest place is the place on my outer elbows where my shirt just touches my arms. I could understand inside my elbows, but on the outside of them? I guess I am just a weird person. But again thank you all for these suggestions. I am going to try each one till I find the one that works!

i went by walgreens today, but forgot to write down the exact name of the stuff like a dummy, and they couldn't help me. i read some of the reviews tho, and it looks like you have to order it on line. i have written the name down now, so i'm going to go back and ask again. i think i'll check with my kroger pharmacist too. sounds like this is just what we need tulips!

Uh oh. I hope you haven't bought your cream yet. I looked at the link again and the bottles are very similar but THIS is the one I meant!

http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=303382&id=prod1525926

That is a moisture barrier. The other is a really good lotion but not a moisture shield for sweat, etc. Sorry!!

You want the NUTRASHIELD, not the SKIN REPAIR CREAM. Although, the cream is probably the best moisturizing lotion I've ever used...

I just ordered 2 of these and hope to get them very soon. I have tried everything but the prescription meds, and nothing has worked yet. I am going to have to go to the doctor over the ones under my breast, they are looking very bad and it scares me with the diabeties. Thank you all so very much for your help.

Sherry, In the meantime use the corn starch.... It will help at least some.

Also, you might try making this "recipe" up. It was developed by a pediatrician for diaper rash. I give it out as baby gifts. Everyone I've given it to has raved about it. I even had a pediatrition friend who said he almost called me to get the "recipe" a few years ago. He had seen it when he was in med school. I think maybe he (or his wife) found the recipe I had given her when we had her baby shower. (I always give the recipe with the cream.)

If you are alergic to the desitin, maybe you could just leave it out. Tho I'm not sure how it will work without it. But I bet it will help. (Desitin is mainly Zink Oxide, which my children were alergic or at least very sensitive to. I'm not sure I could have used this cream on them. I got the recipe LONG after my children were at that age. A nurse gave it to me when I was taking care of my mother. And come to think of it, I think it was for heat rash!)

I never make the whole recipe up. I make half, and that makes a very large amount! If you make it up, and either can't use it, or still have some left when you get the other med in, and find it works better, then give it to someone with a baby.
Oops almost for to put it in. Embarassed

Recipe Name: Diaper Rash Cream Category: MISC
Main Ingredients: oatmeal, cornstarch, Desitin, A&D ointment, Maalox
Recipe Source: Pediatrician

Amount Ingredients
---------- ------------------------------------
1 tube Desitin
1 tube A&D ointment
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup cornstarch
Maalox (or Milk of Magnesia)

Instructions: In blender or food processor, grind oatmeal to a flour consistency.
Mix oatmeal, cornstarch, Desitin, A&D ointment, and enough Maalox to make a smooth consistency.

Note: I used Milk of Magnesia, as I could not find plain Maalox. All the Maalox had extra ingredients that I did not think would be good in a cream to put on a baby. Milk of Magnesia has the same ingredient as the main ingredient of Maalox.

NOTE: Be sure to keep refrigerated when not in use! If not it will mold.

I say ditto on the cornstarch....for prevention but to get rid of it....you could also try Boudroux's butt paste. It as invented by a Baton Rouge, LA. pharmacist for LSU's football team who kept coming into the pharmacy with a similar problem....I put it on both my boys...Good luck hun.....I had a roommate who used to call it chub rub....LOL that still makes me giggle.......
