We recently found a stevia plant at the farmers market. I bought one. It is growing fine, but it has become covered with what look to be small black ants. They don't seem to like the chives or my flowers.
What should I do? I don't want to put chemicals on something I hope to eat, but picking them off one by one is kinda creepy. Besides, I figure they will return, right? |

Well, I know nothing about a Stevia plant, but if the sweetness seeps out through its leaves, it might be that the ants are attracted to that.
I'm interested to hear what the others have to say & good luck!

What about spraying the plant with water and dish detergent? I know that we keep a tub of water and dish det next to the pool, and when we skim out bugs (sweat bees are bad this year!) we dump them in there and it kills them immediately.... Just a thought.... _________________ Dingie Dinah

Su, the bugs are finicky about their beer though, they are hard to please, see they like only A dark German beer and they want to sip from a beer glass not the can. But I bet if you left a glass out overnight it would be empty...... |
