Well I decided to go with 4 of the 28 oz cans. With all that hamburger & sausage plus the veggies, it needed the larger cans.

Thanks!
June

Junie-Poo!!! Sorry I didn't get your voice mail till this morning! I used 4 of the 28 ounce cans too. 2 were basil added, 2 were petite diced. I only used 2 bay leaves, cause last time the bay flavor was soooo strong. may only use one next time. (not a big fan of bay leaves).

I ususally use Davies recipe as a guide, and add what I have on hand. I use italian seasoning instead of oregano sometimes. Yesterday I used both!

Love this stuff. Now I gotta find a sketty squash! Walmart didn't have any Saturday. Sad

That's ok, Dinah. I just winged it. When I saw how much meat it was, I figured I needed the 28 oz cans. I couldn't find a sketty squash either. I might have to be "bad" and use whole wheat pasta this time. As much sauce as I've made, I'll have plenty left over for when I do find the squash!! Smile It sure smells good. I didn't add quite a pound of mushrooms either. I like mushrooms, but I didn't want quite that many in the sauce.

I'll let you know how we like it. Yum!

Thanks again!
June

I just had a bowl full, with some fresh parmesean cheese on it! I LOVE mushrooms, and so does Rossy..... I used to get so tickled at Tyler when he was little, if we had pizza, he'd tell me to take the "pickles" off of it! We still laugh about that.

I think I'll reheat this tonight for dinner, since no one had any but me this weekend. Kids were on the run and working all weekend, so I cooked, but there wasn't anyone around to eat!

I want to try those Oopsie rolls too, so maybe garlic bread????

Let me know what you think!

Oh gee.......I didn't think about Garlic OOpsie Rolls to go with it. That would be wonderful. I made some that way a while back & they were great. I used them for hamburger buns and sandwiches. But with spaghetti.....oh yum. I won't have time to make them today tho. I'm busy in the shop, and tomorrow I'm heading down to VB for a couple of days. Maybe when I get back I can make the rolls.

Drats...wish I had thought about those rolls. Now just why didn't you mention them BEFORE I made the sauce? Smile Smile Smile Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I couldn't find a spaghetti squash at Walmart this weekend, either. Are they seasonal? I just thought that maybe they were out this week but since you both couldn't find them then I wonder. I'm going to have to make some of this sauce again and the oopsie rolls. I haven't had it in a long time. Make a big pot and freeze some to get ready for fall. Yum!! Donna

I do know they are considered a winter squash. Maybe they just aren't ready yet!

I can usually find them at either Walmart or Food Lion, but I didn't see them either place this week. Hopefully they are just out of them for a bit.

That sauce was delish!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know why I haven't made it before, but it's definitely a keeper. I didn't want to go back out to the store again, so I just used the whole wheat pasta. I know it's not as good for me, but it's better than the white stuff.........besides I don't do it very often.

Thanks for leading me to this recipe, Dinah!!!

Hugs!!
June

June, sorry I didn't answer you in time! I have corrected the recipe to reflect the bigger cans so others will not find themselves in the same dilemma you were in. I am also really glad you liked it, I know when I make it, I always invite company as it does make a lot of sauce. It also freezes well for a quick "home made" sauce ready in minutes thanks to the rapid defrost on Mr microwave! Tell Gerald I said hey and again glad you liked it and you to Dinah sweetie pateetie! Y'all take care and be well,
David

just guessing here, but if you use a little garlic powder in the oopsie batter, it would give it a garlic flavor.

Okay, this is definitely on my gotta do it list (hopefully this week, since I have a big sketti squash in the fridge).

If you guys find you can't get spaghetti squash, you may want to try substituting zucchini spaghetti, which is a decent substitute, although I prefer the sketti squash when I can get it.

LindaSue had mentioned an Oxo gadget on her site, that julliene's stuff like zucchini. Comes out sort of like a #9 spaghetti, rather than angel hair. I bought the gadget and it works well.

Thanks for bumping this one up Dinah. Now that the holidays are over, I'm back to SSing, but I came to the conclusion that I need to be eating healthier, as well as low carbing. Eating almost a huge bag of chicken wings with no veggies, is not exactly a great idea.
