Has anyne here just taken out sugar and refined flours and stuff from thier diet and still lost weight. I am a runner and I exercise a lot and my doctor told me taht the no carbs was hindering my weight loss. I have not lost much of anything and in fact I keep gaining. I followed the Atkins to the letter and now I am doing somersizing and occasionally I would go to stella style for a time and nothing. I was told by my doc taht my body may feel like it is starving b/c I need more carbs taht the average person taht does not do as much as I do. I was thinking of cutting out sugars completely and eating whole wheat stuff. Does this work? I want to be healthy not just lose weight. Anyone???

Good Morning!

I read a story in Bob Greene's new book, Total Body Makeover, that may help you. It is on page 223. The lady in the story was also an athlete and eating a low fat/high carb diet. She had lost 150 pounds but then her weight loss stalled. Her doctor told her that she had become insulin resistant from all the carbs. So she changed her diet to low carb and had wonderful results.

Maybe this is not your case, but there are many people here that can help you get started losing again. Why don't you post your menus and let the group give you some advice on what has worked for them.
Best wishes,
Kay Smile

Actually I was on a low carb and high fat when I stalled.

Plus I found recently taht I may have a gall bladder problem so whenever I eat any fatty foods I am in a lot of pain. I may have to quit any kind of high fat WOL anyway. This is why i need options. I need to lose. ALl my fat is in my belly and hips and waist. UGH!

I am also trying to find a healthy way of losing. THe Kevin Trudeau book has gotten me to think on the artificial sweetener thing. Not to mention all the hormones in the food. I have never been a real athlete per say however I do take TaeKwonDo and I am active. I have been stalled for about a year and I am very much a low carb person. I have also gotten the advice that my body may be starving from lack of GOOD carbs.
I am at a cross roads myself. Let me know what you think.

I Somersize. We do not count carbs - it is cutting out refined "white stuff", food combining and eating the right foods. As veggies are a "free" food, I do get good carbs daily.

My sweetener of choice is Whey Low, which is a natural product.

I know some Somersizers eat a low fat way, but I do not.

The best advice on any WOE, is that fresh foods are the best foods.

Hi, you`s might want to try South beach diet. It`s low fat and you eat carbs (good carbs) It`s a good carb diet. I like it because, it`s low fat,and after the first phase, you get to eat fruit. What ever you decide, fresh is best. Debbie (CD)

You were doing no carbs? Which diet plan was that?
Not even Atkins is no carb.
