Well I did it, I baked bacon in the oven and I liked it!

Oven Baked Bacon

1 pound of bacon

Put pizza stone or baking stone into oven

Split the bacon up into individual strips.

Place the bacon strips onto stone in cold oven.

Turn oven on at 400 degrees.

Cook for 15-20 minutes until done the way you lke it.

***Do not turn the bacon.

Enjoy!

Foxye, this is the way I have cooked my bacon for years (w/o pizza stone) and I love it. I cover my cookie sheet w/ aluminum foil. Easy and not a mess. Glad you liked it. Donna

Oven bacon is GREAT! Although I think grilled on George is just a teensy bit better.

Dinah, you're a goof. You really should consider changing careers and become an editor. You have an eagle eye for typos!

I've been cooking my bacon in the oven for a few weeks now. We like it that way. But it isn't as "clean" as some have said (on another forum). Glad I have a self clean oven, which I'm gonna hafta use soon.
I do the cookie sheet/foil too.

And I'm the queen of typos! Thankfully sometimes I catch them!

I like my bacon cooked in the microwave. The bacon seems to not shrink as much.

I've never cooked bacon in the oven before.

I think I will try it, as it sounds like it will save me some time in the morning.

Thanks!

I am shooting for pure decadence at my brunch today -

Use 1/4 cup brown sugar substitute (Whey Low Gold), sprinkle evenly on the raw bacon slices and then press it onto the bacon slices.

Bake at 350.

Yum breakfast candy!

Yeah! I can finally log on and talk. Thank you Dinah. Now to the subject at hand. I personally like to brush my bacon with sugarfree maple syrup.

I've started baking mine at about 350° instead of the 400 or more. A lot less splatter, so doesn't mess up my oven so much.
I do start my oven heating before i put my bacon in.

Wow, (not sure why I or anyone else didn't comment on this before other than Donna & I saying we used a cookie sheet w/foil ) but I can't imagine baking on a stone without at tray under it. What a mess, with all the drippings.

It takes longer at the lower temp, but not so messy. And it realllly splattered for me when I cooked at the higher temp.

This is the only way I cook bacon anymore! I love it and I don't get burnt like I always did when pan frying!

this is the only way we prepare our bacon as well, it is so smoky and delicious. I use a thick smoked bacon for the best results.
