| I let my OnDemand subscription run out just before the Cranberry Crisp Pie recipe was added. I was going to renew my subscription, but then the recipes stopped being added to. Do you think it would be ok to share that recipe with me, and all? Is it coming out in the new cookbook to be released? I hope so! Otherwise, I hope that it will be shared with us here, pretty please with a cherry on top?! |

I beleive the on-demand is now available as a lifetime subscription. Once you sign up, you get it forever.

Mark,
Thanks for your reply!
You know I love The Stella's recipes, however, it seems as if the filming for the On Demand section has stopped. There hasn't been a new video for a very long time now.
When I WAS a subscriber, I saved all the recipe videos to my computer. So I have all of THOSE forever!
Too bad the rules changed, and I missed out on just a couple of recipes.
I am going to buy the newest cookbook when it comes out, so if the recipe is in that, I will get it there.
A lifetime subscription to the OnDemand is a good idea for those who are new subscribers, however, they should be aware that there may not be any more OnDemand recipe videos, beyond the current list available. I certainly hope I am wrong, and that we get more videos! It has been a long time since the last one, however, for whatever reason. The Stella's are certainly busy people, and are busy with other things in their life right now, is my guess, especially Anthony, the film maker, whom I think they relied on a great deal to get the videos done before they stopped coming out with new ones. That being said, all of the above is just my thinking, I haven't heard anything from anybody!
I think that new subscribers will like what is already there.

I never got the on demand but have you tried googling a recipe on line. It should be easy enough to LC. I have a recipe I made this Thanksgiving for a cran apple crisp and though it had brown sugar and oats I don't think it needed either..you could just up the pecans and almond flour...and splenda or what ever sweetener you use. Let me know if you want it.
BTW...not sure about the filling but I have made cranberry sauce by just cooking down cranberries with splenda....try cooking them half way and just browning the top in the oven. |

Dear bluebetty,
Thankyou, I would love to see your cranberry, apple crisp recipe, with the oats. It sounds like a recipe I could make for my DH, and I think you are right about being able to convert it to low carb too. However, make it convenient on yourself, cuz I have gotten ahold of a recipe I am using right now. I would love to compare them, and use yours too, though. Thank you so much. |

thsi si straight out of my docs....below are the 2 links to the 2 recipoes I combined....I was real happy with the pecans in the topping ...so much that next time I'll leave out the oats to see of I like it better. Other than that the topping was perfect ...I even made it ahead of time and just kept it refrigerated.
The filling I wasn't crazy about. I sliced the apples and they were too thinn ang got a lil gooey...next time I'll chunk them. I halved the cranberries and cooked down with splenda and water (a day ahead) and believe it or not they had the texture of dried cranberries (though they were in plenty juice) and I didn't like them in this....and i love cranberries....next time i'll try frozen blueberries instead to cut the carbs.....still in search of the perfect cranberry recipe....stil love them..
so those were my changes and my mishaps....hope your comes out better....let me know
Cranberry apple crisp

http://kalynskitchen.blogspot.com/2008/11/low-sugar-pumpkin-and-apple-crumble.html
Filling
4-5 granny smith apples sliced
1 cp of fresh cranberries
splenda to taste
½ tsp ground cinnamon
nutmeg
topping
¼ cp of old fashioned or steel cut oats
¼ cp almond meal
½ cp of chopped pecans
4 tbs of butter
¼ cp of light brown sugar
¼ cp of splenda
Slice cranberries in half (whole berries may be a little too much in a whole bite) cook cranberries and splenda in sauce pan till cranberries pop and sauce is thick. Put the butter and orange juice in a small microwaveable dish or a small pan. Heat in the microwave or over medium-low heat until the butter melts, about 1 minute. Stir into cranberry mixture. Add apple slices , cinnamon and nutmeg to cranberry mixture. Pour the cranberry apple filling into the prepared 8x8 pan and spread it evenly .
Place almond meal, oatmeal, pecans, brown sugar, and Splenda in a plastic bowl. Remove butter from freezer and using the large side of a metal grater, grate pieces of butter until you have 3-4 T, as measured by the markings on the side of the butter wrapper. Then use a pastry blender or fork to combine the mixture until the butter is well distributed and the mixture looks crumbly. Top filling and bake 30 –40 min. Let cool slightly and top with SF Vanilla ice cream or yogurt. |

Dear Bluebetty,
Thankyou for your recipe and the notes on how you worked with it, they will be helpful. I copied your recipe, and can't wait to make it, first I'll make a version of it for my DH, and use more oats than nuts, and I'll try to chunk the apples. I'll let you know how it turned out! We have lots of cranberries in the freezer. And we go shopping for apples today. Thank you for posting your recipe!
