Marrinate:
1/2 cup Soy sauce
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup low carb Teriyaki sauce
1 Teaspoon garlic powder
1 Teaspoon onion powder
Cayenne pepper to taste
Tobasco Sauce to taste
This will marrinate a good 5 pounds of beef. Usually use the tougher cuts.
Cut the meat into thin strips and marrinate for 24 hours in the frig. Then place on dehydrater and dry... Enjoy.. Alter the ingredients according to what you like. Everytime we make it, the recipe changes.
This is going to be high in sodium and so I enjoy it sparingly. My husband enjoys it alot!!!

Can this be done in the oven?
What types of meat cuts do you use?
Thanks _________________

Hi Michelle,
Yes you can dry the meat in the oven. The biggest problem would be the circulation and laying it across the racks.. You'd have some dripping... But, it could be done.. we use the cheapest meat possible.. We even have used it with the fat as my hubby likes the marbling. Otherwise, it's up to you as to what cuts you want. Slice it very thin, dry and enjoy!!! Good Luck. _________________ Our Greatest Danger in Life is in permitting the urgent things to crowd out the Important!!

It needs to cut thin, really thin to dry properly. If you can get it sliced thin, I don't see why not. _________________ Low carb is a way of life. |

| Sounds like a great recipe, I will have to try it. I have made jerky- pre LC and I will give a bit of a tip, after you marinate the meat, pop it in the freezer for about 15 min before trying to slice. It will be easier to cut thinly when it is partially frozen. Then dry as usual. |

This sounds delicious! Do you think this could be "cooked" in a smoker? |

Leeci, I don't see why not. Course I guess it sort of depends on the smoker. You will need to "cook" it really slow, as it is not cooked per se. It will need to be very low heat. If you mean a smoker meant for making jerky, then sure! (This is what I was first thinking of.)
