Hello,
My name is carrie and I live in northern england and have been encouraged to try the low carb WOL to try to lose weight and hopefully feel better, I have ME and FM and at the moment I am a mess simple tasks take all my energy and pain makes most things out of the question, now I have read( thanks to Anne) that the LC WOL can ease the symptoms of these conditions, I am a complete sugar addict and have just ordered some stevia as I have issues with artificial sweeteners and Migraines. I am gonna give this my best shot and I will tell you if I notice any reduction in my symptoms or severity of symptoms, I hope to enjoy this journey. _________________ Todays mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground!

Hi Sweetie,
Together, we are both going to win this battle. I just wish you didn't have so many other struggles to deal with, but hopefully, this lifestyle will help to ease some of those problems.

Welcome to the site, and our Stella Style family ......!!!
I'm sure you will like it here. Lots of good tips, info, recipes, and support.
Be sure to check out the recipe section. Wonderin about something, check out the search.
It's under Forum on the bar above. Also check out the help from the toolbar, and there is a Help forum also. You'll find a lot of answers there. Because of spam & bad posts being able attack this section, it has been closed to new posts, but it is still there to browse, glean answers from. (No spam there now.) Most problems have been addressed there. There is a sticky of FAQs in the General forum. It has links to lots of as the name says Most Frequently Asked Questions about Stella Style WOL!!!. For that matter be sure to check out all the stickies when you have a question. Good chance it may have been answered in the FAQ's or other stickies.
Check out the home page:
Getting Started
Grocery Shopping
Recipes
Success Stories
Lots of good info there.
So sorry to hear of your physical problems. I do hope this will help. If you follow low carb (correctly including some GOOD carbs), it will definitely help your health.
May I suggest that you go over to the Anything Room, and introduce yourself there. More people may possibly see your post there.
I think you will find lost of new friends here, who will try to help with questions you might have.
By the way, I have several friends from England. (Several different areas, only one of which I actually know where in England she lives. LOL) _________________ Billie

let me welcome you too, Carrie, and Anne too. You have found the right place. I have Fibro too, and I KNOW I feel better if I stay away from any processed foods. MSG is a big no no for me too. I can't OD on it, or I pay for it in aches and pains for days.
I hope you find lots of info here to help you along our journey. I know finding "products" may be hard to do in England, but I'm sure fresh foods are available. I know when I went to an English Pub at Epcot this summer, I had Scotch Eggs for the first time, and they were FABULOUS!!! i've made them a couple of times since I've come home, and I use Georges Sweet Mustard Dip with them. GREAT idea for breakfast.
Well, I just wanted to say hi, and hope you will find a happy home here at Stella Style!

Welcome to the site!!! Glad you are here. I think you'll find that eating healthy and low carb will help lots of things. I do want to let you know that the first couple of weeks can be a little rough. This is not to discourage you, but rather prepare you.
Many people get actualy flu-like symptoms. We refer to that as the low carb flu...it is completely normal. You probably will experience some (or a lot) of sugar withdrawal. Please don't let this discourage you. The good news is that after about 7-10 days, you will most likely get an energy burst that you haven't experienced in years. Many of your aches and pains will get much better. The few days of low carb flu are well worth what is at the end of the road.
Now for the really good news...once you get that energy burst, you will keep it, that is, as long as you maintain a healthy low carb lifestyle, and as a bonus you will begin losing weight.
Make sure and visit us for support if and when you feel bad...believe me, we've all been there.
Anyway...that was kind of a long-winded welcome...I apologize...guess I'm feeling chatty tonight.
Best Wishes,
Mark _________________ You can get what you want in life, if you help enough people get what they want--Zig Ziglar

Thank you so much everyone I think I am ready to give this ago but my hubby cooking popcorn last night was a test of willpower This carb Flu Anne and Mark have mentioned and it does bother me a bit not so much for me, but if my husband sees me unwell he will be hard to convince its all for the greater good LOL He doesnt really understand the theory behind the diet so just thinks cutting things out is not good, which to be perfectly frank I thought also until I read more and it all started to make sense to me. His idea is to just cut out biscuits and cakes ( cookies) and that is all you need to do, I hate to admit it but 60lb isnt gonna drop of by not walking down the cookie aisle at the store LOL Anyway thanks so much for your warm welcomes and I will bob over to the Anything forum and introduce myself there. _________________ Todays mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground!

This is probably very premature thing to be judging as I have only done 2 days of LC WOL and was a little naughty without realising and had a small piece of corn on the cob. less than a 1/4 cup of corn but oops I see its really bad LOL anyway onto my point, I usually have major problems with my body temp I go icey icey cold and burning hot randomly often after a cold or hot drink, I have had the hot flushes biut have not felt even remotely cold all day and night today which is usually unheard of, I cant say it has anything to do with the LC but I am gonna keep a check of it and see what happens, right now I am in bed with my laptop on and for once I am not frozen and its a cool night. I will keep you posted as things get further along on the plan. I am having carb cravings, and tonight just before I woke up I dreamt I ate near every bad carb you could ever imagine LOL _________________ Todays mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground!
