Made this for dinner tonight, using chunked-up cooked turkey for the protein, & I have to say, it was really good! Thanks for sharing!

I made it again yesterday and adjusted it so that there was more ground beef...we LOVE this soup! Su, I'm glad to hear you liked it too. It's filling and satisfying. Heck, I'd even have it for breakfast in a pinch. |

This is my first trip to this forum. I joined immediately and what a find this recipe is. I love it, love it, love it! There's a pot of double recipe on my stove as I write.
There is nothing significant for me to add. However, I love chili type foods. For my seasoning, I use spices from Pendery's. There is a store located in Ft. Worth, TX and an online catalog: http://www.penderys.com/index.html
I'm sure that are bigger and possibly better spice stores, but this one is fabulous. I used the San Antonio Red in my Taco Soup and it imparted a sweet, mild flavor to accompany the heat from the Ro-Tel. If you ever have an opportunity to visit the store in Ft. Worth, it will probably be a fun an interesting place to spend 30 min. to an hour.
Well, soup's done. Mmmmmm. Won't this be a great crockpot dish to take to work on potluck day!

Welcome to the site, and our Stella Style family Jane!!!
I'm sure you will like it here. Lots of good tips, info, recipes, and support.
Be sure to check out the recipe section. Wonderin about something, check out the search.
It's under Forum on the bar above. Also check out the help from the toolbar, and there is a Help forum also. You'll find a lot of answers there. Because of spam & bad posts being able attack this section, it has been closed to new posts, but it is still there to browse, glean answers from. (No spam there now.) Most problems have been addressed there. There is a sticky of FAQs in the General forum. It has links to lots of as the name says Frequently Asked Questions.
Check out the home page:
Getting Started
Grocery Shopping
Recipes
Success Stories
Lots of good info there.
What a great idea about the crock pot for pot lucks, etc. I have a lunch after church next week that is Taco oriented. Maybe I can take some of this. I'll think about it. (Also have to see if the weather even lets me go!) Thanks for the idea.

I just found this recipe and I am going to the store to get the fixings for it!! I found some low carb taco shells a while back, but I can't remember the name of them for sure. They would be good crunched up on top I bet.
I will let you know how it turns out and the name of the low carb taco shells. _________________ Happy lowcarbing!!

Well I made the soup lastnight and it was awesome!! The whole family loved it! I topped my bowl with pepper jack cheese, sour cream, diced avocado, and a crunched up low carb taco shell.
The taco shells are made by La Tiara and they are 4 carbs per shell. They are light and crispy and come in white or yellow corn. I have bought them at Walmart and Country Mart grocery store.
Thanks Dinah for posting the delicious recipe!!!! _________________ Happy lowcarbing!!
