Damn, I'm kicking myself for not coming here when I started. I'm currently on Week 5, Day 1 of the Couch to 5K program. The program basically takes you from couch to 5K in 9 weeks. Info can be found here - Couch to 5K Running Plan. I'm on the program using an application that I bought from here - C25K Plan for the iPhone/iTouch for my iTouch. The cool thing about the application is that it integrates nicely on Twitter and Facebook. The iTouch/iPhone also has an app called Nike+ to keep track of the distance you've ran. You do have to buy a pedometer and shoes though.
It's seriously a fantastic program and you don't need an iTouch/iPhone for it to work for you. Some people make a playlist for each week with songs of the right length so when the song changed, they knew they'd have to change from running to walking. If that's too much work, I found a great site that's much more accurate. If you guys don't mind the music, go here - http://www.djsteveboy.com/1day25k.html (main page is here http://www.djsteveboy.com/intervals.html - that has 5K, 8K and 10K mixes). I think it's techno music but when it's time to change from running to walking, you'll hear a sound. I heard the very first one (the one that says download week 1) and there's a short 2 minute intro, then it starts with 5 minutes of music then a sound which tells you to run. You can also find this stuff if you search for "podrunner intervals" on iTunes.
I really, really hope some of you try this. I'm 205 lbs. and I'm doing it. Some days can be a bit rough so I just slow down. The important thing for me is not to walk when I'm supposed to run. Although my runs are more like extremely slow jogs, but everyday is an accomplishment.
So who wants to do this with me? _________________ |

I'll post my workout and my stats to give you guys a glimpse at how this program works. Some days my pedometer didn't register so I won't be posting those. _________________ |

Week 1 - Day 1 run of C25K running plan.
Today's workout consisted of:
Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Five-minute cooldown walk.
Did not have a pedometer, mileage unknown. _________________ |

I think this is wrong because I've been down a considerable amount from these numbers. _________________ |
