I was wondering for those of us new to this low carb. program..perhaps Those of you that have been low carbing for a while would be willing to share some of your FINDS at the grocery store
....... What do you think about listing some of those FINDS from places like Walmart or Sam's or Costco..
I spent HOURS yesterday reading and reading and reading labels.. I finally got frustrated and just left the store with only a few items.meat , eggs and some salad fixing.. I was looking for sugar free pasta sauce as I didn't want to make a big batch of home made sauce just to use on a pizza.
I know there are things to buy but it can get overwhelming.. I read Georges recommendations of just shopping the outside of the grocery but that doesn't work in a place like Walmart or Sam's... It works fine in Publix.
Anyway just a thought.. _________________

Hi Flo
WalMart does have no sugar added tomato sauce. It's not with the pasta or marinara sauces in glass jars. Look for it the canned tomato section. It's WalMart brand, white label with blue letters. Most stores should carry a house brand of tomato or spaghetti sauce with no additives. Different stores, different names. Hunts may also make it. George has an awesome tomato soup recipe in the latest book that uses no sugar added sauce. I'm looking forward to a cool day to make some again.
I hope your WalMart isn't going through the same huge remodeling ours is. Everyone has the same dazed look on their face cause you can't find anything...lol
Good Luck shopping, let me know how you make out.

and remember Flo, tomatoes have NATURAL sugars, so there are gonna be carbs listed. just make sure there is not additional sugar listed in the ingredients. hope that made sense!
How about I add a section called Shopping Secrets??? then we would have a whole section just for that, kinda like the recipe section... i'll go do that now! thanks for a great idea! _________________ Dingie Dinah

Thanks Dinah... that would be great...
I can't tell you how frustrated I was at the store.. and like most we dont' have all day to spend searching and searching.. I have some GIANT Groceries and it could take days to get through some of the easy stuff..
let alone the more hidden treasures that I am sure are there.. _________________
