Good morning Stella frends!! We have a cold, cloudy day here, but we got some much needed rain yesterday. This year has been one of the most beautiful autumn leaf displays I can remember - all the reds, yellows, oranges ... I just love it. About half of them are on the ground, now, and I think after the cold nights we are going to have before a weekend warmup, a lot more will fall. My favorite season, but it is easy to find beauty in all seasons if you just look for it. Summer is not so good for me any more, because the heat bothers me alot.
I'm still around. I've had some medical things to attend to. I also went to the dentist and found out that I have over $7,000 worth of work that needs to be done. I do have a dental insurance plan that will help some, but even at that it is still a lot of money, and I will have to use some of our savings to get it done - and I really didn't want to do that. But, I have put myself last for too long, and I'm going to find a way to do it. I have a place that needs a bridge and it will be complicated & I'm dreading the pain, but I have been embarassed about having a "hole" in my smile for a long time, so I am looking forward to having it done.
As to diet ..... what a complicated problem. I decided to do low carb almost like induction - and after one week, I have started having pain in my left side - feels like the kidney stone I had before only on the other side. And, the diet that is best for kidney stones (preventing or treating them, that is) is a low protein diet. Very little meat - and I love meat!! But, I don't love pain, so I'm trying to figure out -again- what to eat. So complicated and frustrating. The pain has eased up this morning, so I hope I don't have to go to the doctor or hospital with it and that I can manage it myself.
Marylyn - you are on my mind - hope you are doing ok. Who would have ever thought that our lives would be so difficult at this time in our life? We may be 'tough old birds' but sometimes it is overwhelming to deal with it all. How's Marv?
To the rest of youse guyzzz - I know I havent been posting with so much going on, but I miss reading your posts. David, I enjoy your daily fb posts and thought for the day.
Grats:
1. Less pain today in my side
2. Sun looks like it will shine on us
3. Here - this forum is a Godsend so many times
Till next time, I guess we'll just have to keep on swimming ... swimming ... and hanging in there!! _________________ You Can Make a Difference

Hi Joyce and all te SS friends here! What Dinah said, you are so worth it; totally worth it. I wonder why it is that women tend to take care of everyone else first, and us last. I guess for me it's because that's what the women did first to rise, last to go to sleep. I think that's changing now for the better. I will admit I do enjoy getting Marv's breakfast in the morning and make his lunch for work. And, Mon. is still the day I wash and Tuesday I iron, yes girls I still iron...lol, and I was raised Catholic then turned Methodist when I married but I still make sure we have fish on Friday. Even though they don't do that anymore, but that's how both my grandma's and mom taught me and I guess it's engrained. However, I WILL NOT chop the chickens heads off on Thursdays! But, I do do all my cooking for Sunday meals on Saturday or at least get it ready like for grilling or in the crock pot.
I feel I've been on track this week and cooking more ahead. I've also walked more but Dinah I get sore so you are doing well! Joyce, I agree we can be tough but some days are overwhelming for me too and I want to throw in the towel, but I don't because the first thing I think about is I wouldn't be able to harrass my SS friends...lol.
Joyce, Marv is feeling better but still has a ways to go. It is sad to see him in pain and, also he has severe depression it just grew when the kids moved to Fla. I didn't put that part on face book cause we didn't want everyone to see it. I feel so bad for him. He is such a good good man and doesn't deserve to feel like this.
I don't like to hear that you are having problems eating too much meat. I love meat too, but also have to watch my meat intake but I am getting better on smaller portions of meat and more veggies. Keep me posted on your kidney's. I still hate giving myself insulin shot every day. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
GRATS:
Veteran's, especially mine from the Vietnam era
A beautiful, cool, sunny, windy, watching leaves fall day
Fresh food and learning to take a chance on root veggies I never really had before but loving them.
Blessings, Marylyn _________________
