PostPosted: Aug Tue 17, 2010 4:22 pm    Post subject: question re lack of hunger. Reply with quote

I am just wondering if I need to make some adjustments. I don't plan to be a scale watcher as in the past it drove me crazy everyday.. so I am going to try to use my body to give me some clues to what I need to do.. That said.. once a month weight in is all I am going to do ..I lost over
70 lbs on low fat plan but it was a total struggle. Then got to the point I could't do it anymore.. of coure have put back 17 lbs.. so I need this plan to work long term.

But I find when I have a nice satisfying breakfast, I LOVE to have breakfast .. I am frequently not hungry until late afternoon. Now on my old diet plan, low fat that NEVER happened.. I was eating something no matter how small ev,ery 3-4 hrs. and was always boreline hungry.

Since this high protein/low carb plan is new to me should that be a clue that I am eating too much for breakfast ? or is that an OK thing. ..
example. egg 1 , freq. frozen chopped spinach or collard greens w butter and 1 or 2 sm breakfast sausages.. one minute muffin. coffee cream..

have been using either whole egg if fried or egg beater if scrambled. and try to add a veggie to morning to get lots of low carb veggies in my plan

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I want deperately to succeed at this plan as I think I am totally a protein dieter and carb sensitive.
thx for any help...
Crenita

Flo/Crenita, there are no dumb questions! That is something we try to emphasize here. If you don't know, then ask. Now sometimes you will get several answers, but sometimes unfortunately none of us knows.

Breakfast is a very important meal of the day. I don't think you are getting too much protein or good carbs in your breakfast. If it holds you thru for several hours, great! If your schedule is such that you need/have to eat at noon, then try to eat a light meal (if thats all you need) even if you aren't really hungry. Don't try to eat a large meal if you aren't hungry. If your schedule is more flexible, and you can wait to eat, and you aren't hungry till 1:00 (or after) then wait.
You are actually eating better for you food now than when on the low fat diet, and you are getting satiated much better than with low fat. That is Good, not bad.

But remember even good carbs can add up. So don't go overboard just because they are good carbs. Everything in moderation! (Wish I were better at practicing what I preach. Confused )

Not sure why you are using the egg beaters rather than whole egg for scrambled, but if it is personal choice then who am I to tell you you shouldn't. Personally that would be uck for me. But that's me. Don't be afraid of the fat in them. But I didn't think that was really why, since you eat whole fried eggs.

(Well I started this several hours ago. Something came up, and I had to leave the computer & this post. Now I've lost my train of thought, and not sure if I had anything else to add or not. So will close this out.)

That list (wherever it may be) was posted by a member: wiccanmalenurse (David) but on the opening page of this site on the upper left corner are links for getting started where I take you grocery shopping and more:

good luck! And of course these lists are in all my books~ Geo

Carashouse, as you read the bks and view the videos ( found in the HOME section of this site AND on YouTube) of Geo covering " the list" pay attention as well, to how to store the foods. The videos help with this, bc some things hold up longer and better in the fridge or freezer. Also, anything made of seed, nuts, grains.... it doesn't hurt to let those items freeze over night before storing in the pantry, to kill off any possible critters ( yes we have them in the US in foods that are edible ~~ translation: foods not filled with chemicals and preservatives). After the one night freeze of things you will not permanently store in the freezer, allow the packages to sit on a counter to come back to room temp before placing in the pantry. This allows moisture to get off the package from freezing, to avoid mold. ( Note: this freezing tip comes from my sister going on vacation and returning to find her pricey plastic storage containers alive and crawling with whatever hatched while they were away). You may or may not be opting to incorporate grains in your LC WOE, but this one night freeze is a good habit to develop for all dry natural edibles...just in case. ) sandi

Can someone help? Am I understanding this right. As long as I eat the foods on the list and recipes in George's books, I can eat till satisfied without having to stay within a certain carb count per day? I thought it was important to stay under a certain number in order to loose weight.. im confused now..

Sorry Debbie, there is no easy 1 fits all answer to that question. For many that is all it takes. But others do find they have to watch the carb count as well. Everyone's body is different, and will lose at different rates, and with different plans, etc.
Many will tell you yes to this question, but I personally won't go that far. Doesn't work for me. I no longer actually count all my carbs, but I do watch how many I consume just the same. I will gain even eating "good carbs" which are "on plan" if I eat too many or too much. It is an individual thing.
Sorry, I can't be more specific to your needs.

Thank you Billie, it did help. I know Im only into my 2nd week and kind of feel a little discouraged because I have gained a pound back after eating 'good carbs'... I was just wondering if it was cause I ate too many, but like you said, everyone is different... thank you for getting back to me so quick. Smile

We lost weight steadily when eating Stella Style without counting anything.
