D~ Chili's take out: Ribeye steak, steamed broccoli, side salad with my dressing ...( ditched the croutons and ate pork rinds...didn't see enough carrot sheds to try to pull out..and SHOULD have avoided those cucumber slices they added). I never liked cucumber much and maybe it's because they don't like ME! They kept me up! I even had to take 2 papaya enzymes to help digest the p rindws ans cucumber. I hope the natyral sugar in those didn't mess me up. I know NOT ro eat pork rinds after noon time though but... with DH munching happioly on his corn chips I HAD to have p rinds!

Hey THANK YOU Rae! You know my thinking/reasoning self thinks ANY progress is good, but it seems like drops in the proverbial bucket, in how V E R Y slow that progress is. My total down today is 7 lbs, so at least it's creeping in the right direction and I draw solace in the number of boxes of butter that would be if I were holding them. LOL We used to state our progress in how many cats or dogs..depending on the weight of our pet, or sacks of potatoes. I haven't even lost ONE cat yet! Where's my water? LOL

Hi Dinah and thanx for cheering me on!

That's food grade hydrogen peroxide and it is seriously dangerous if UNDILUTED. I am taking it to improve a dry spot on my side which steroid cream the DR had given me didn't do much for. I have been on my own quest to find a way to treat it. It's been 11 yrs since I first noticed it...no itching, but rough and getting red if I eat sugar or mushrooms ( the latter, being a favorite of mine). The spot has gradually expanded to about a nickel size and I suspect, after researching on the internet, it is caused by a yeast over-growth in my system. Everyone has yeast in them and ON their skin, but sometimes it causes problems. I'm seeing good results from taking th drops and am up to 8 drops as of today. The H2O2 kills the good flora / bacteria out of the digestive system, so I take a supplement to replace the good. I keep that in the fridge to keep it live and fresh. ( NOTE: the H2O2 is so strong ~~ 35 %, where the regular drugstore non-food grade variety is 3%). This needs to be stored in a dark. cool place, so I store the larger bottle in the freezer and use a dropper bottle, kept in the fridge. Also..... initially use the rubber topper you squeeze the drops from, but the strong undiluted H2O2 deteriorated that rubber until it collapsed and stuck together. I replaced that bottle with a hard plastic dropper lid type, so there is no deterioration. The oxygenation provided by the H2O2, makes the body an unfriendly environment for yeast over-growth and many diseases as well. It's no surprise the pharm industry doesn't want info such as this to get rolling. sandi

Rae, the cream of cauli soup was just a base of chicken stock from stewing a chicken, then some mashed cauli I already had steamed in the fridge, cream, garlic and a slice of easy melting cheese...may have added Havarti that night, but equally good with a cheddar or American (or other to taste , for that matter) some pieces cut from a roasted red pepper, parsley and black pepper.

I can't get enough vegies and maybe I overdo it. I buy a wide variety ..usually something bagged like baby spinach, kale, or a spring salad mix or both ( or tubs if the price is good), always yellow squash, and sweet peppers, grape or cherry toms, then cauli, cabbage, and iceberg lettuce, sometimes zucchini. Onions are" a given" staple in my mind....even with no other veg in the house, you can still make onion soup or sauce! LOL I'm nuts over mushrooms too but am having to curb them while I try and see if candida overgrowth in my system is causing a little dry patch on my side that has been there for yrs. Cutting out sugars has helped. ANyway... I even bought asparagus the other day and okra...just to add some *variety* ( LOL)...... should have bought lemons too but will this week-end to make a lemon butter sauce for the asparagus. Guess I can use the true Lemon powder for that too. Plain and simple buttered steamed cabbage is delish! A sprinkle of caraway seed adds another dimension.

Kale has been my newest veg to try this past yr and it's good with a drizzle of sf syrup or other sweetener sprinkled on while sauteing in butter. It tones down any bitter flavor, and..... also with a smoked meat of some kind.

You can make cream of anything soup starting with a chicken broth or stock...hard to find some with no added sugar, so I usually stew that chicken up and have the stock on hand to pull out for sauces and soups. (For a yummy stock, I just add bay leaf, onion, celery, poultry seasoning and black pepper, then just cover the chicken with water and cover to simmer). It's funny, but my Mother used to "treat us" to a special cream of cauli soup at Christmas and served it in the fancy China with double handled sides, so we knew it was MORE special. LOL I craved the stuff and couldn't WAIT for the next holiday she could make it. I never questioned why she only made it then... a food processor or blender can cream it up the best, but mashed is fine for the texture. LOL I now have that china and never think to serve it in that cute soup dish! Maybe soon...... ( she says talking to herself as she meanders down the hall....)

Have you tried turnip fries, Rae? pretty tasty! I haven't tried baking them, but they are a nice side to a bunless burger when fried. Do you enjoy cole slaw with cabbage as well as the broccoli slaw you had this week? I get on kicks to eat one veg almost daily for a couple of weeks. Not sure why, but cabbage and broccoli are two I have done that way. I think I made cole slaw 3 times last week or week before. Jicama slaw is good too. Jicama can be fried too but it's very dense and for me, takes too long to bother with. It's a good fresh addition to salads.

Maybe you can ease into one new vegie to try every couple of weeks and add the sauces you already enjoy, to make them more enjoyable to you. Start a basic sauce list and then beside each...add the names of vegies that would go with that sauce.
ie lemon butter sauce: asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, green beans
cheddar cream sauce: broccoli, cauli
pico de gallo plus mayo: green salad, avocado
onion cream sauce: green beans, cauli, asparagus
beefy mushroom sauce: baked onion, mashed cauli, green beans ......or pardon my sweet abandon, just a spoon, a bowl of it and a quiet corner !

Hope something here helps.
How do you make your beer batter for fish? Boy! Does that sound good.....even early in the AM! sandi Wink

No, I haven't tried fries that way, I'll have to give it a go sometime. I do have to delve more into the veggie world. Thanks for the suggestions! I've tried Carbquick for frying but I would rather bake with it. It sort of slides off the fish. Now I tend to use a little soy flour then a beaten egg and a mix of almond flour mixed with parmesean cheese out of the can. It won't need any salt because of the salty taste of the cheese. It works out really well and I don't care for the taste of soy flour but with everything else going on, you don't even taste it.

Rae, the fish coating sounds good. I haven't bought soy flour ye, mainly bc I hear repeatedly about the bitter flavor. Do you use soy flour often enough to warrant the purchase? I know all the soy flour recipes of the Stella's must remain soy flour and not be tried with almond flour, which knocks out the usefulness of some of the cookbooks in that area, but if I were convinced the soy flour could make it worthwhile to buy and make it enjoyable, I would try it. I already have high carb Quinoa in my keeping after hearing how wonderfully nutritious it ios, but I can't use it now while low carbing and it would have to be made savory probably bc I really didn't like it as cereal. Just need to choose what I'll really use. Is there one brand of soy flour which has a better /less bitter flavor than others? sandi
