Good Old H2O!!!! that's my drink of choice. But you could have coffee, Unsweetened tea, or green tea. How does that do? Welcome to the forum too!!

Yes, good ole water is actually the best to drink, and the best for you!!! But I have to admit, I just can't seem to make myself drink enough of it. I just don't like water. (Hangs head.) I also know I'd be better off, and probably do better if I did. I do try once in a while, but it never lasts.
I do drink a LOT of tea (hot usually green in the winter, iced usually black in the spring summer). I personally haven't drank sweet tea in years. I used to drink it really sweet, but now can't hardly stand sweet tea. But if you want tea, and want it sweet, and prefer not to use Splenda or other artificial sweeteners, you might try Stevia. Stevia isn't artificial, it is natural, and has been proven safe for years. That being said, all Stevia is not created equal!!! The brand I have found best is SweetLeaf Stevia (or SLS Plus). I have also heard that NuNaturals is a great stevia, but have not personally tried it yet. If you try stevia, start off using a very small amount. Too much of any of it can be quite bitter.
And hey, tea has been found to actually be beneficial - good for you.
I know Dinah, I know! But some of just have to have something besides just water, and at least it isn't Pop. _________________ Billie

Welcome Coleen!!!!
I second what Billie says!!! Water is the best, but sometimes you just need to have FLAVOR.........Here's another suggestion for you.......look for True Lemon, True Lime and True Orange. You can add these to water to give it a slight flavor without ANY sugar... artificial or otherwise. Alternating with regular water keeps me on track!
I also drink tea as well, but I use the liquid splenda to sweeten.
Good luck to you!!!! Oh, and if you suffer from frequent headaches, be forewarned that it may be that Pepsi with aspartame.

Yes, it very well could be. I suffered for years with daily headaches, all the while drinking pops with aspartame, and using aspartame in other foods. I was in denial that the aspartame was in any way to blame. Then a few years ago, I stopped consuming aspartame (well, it does sneak in on rare occasions, and I pay for it with a headache usually), and the daily headaches soon stopped. Of course I still do get headaches from other sources occasionaly, but not nearly as often, and not daily like before.
Oh, and Pepsi does make a diet drink which doesn't contain aspartame, if you must have Pepsi sometimes. It is Pepsi One (in the black can). But it does contain Splenda. I do occasionally tho not often drink one of those. Most of the time if I do drink Pop (which is rare), it is Diet Rite. _________________ Billie

hi there,
thank you all so much! you are SO right about the pepsi w/aspartame (ok...anything w/aspartame!). but my current glass of pepsi has sugar&cornsyrup...i am hard core. however, those days are drawing to a close.
and that is a great idea, tammy, for using the true lemon (lime, orange)...i hadn't thought of that. got it right in my pantry.
i've done a little more 'homework' and have found that agave nectar (a natural product) has a low glycemic load. so, between that and stevia, i should be set.
again, thank you...i am enjoying being ''here'' with y'all!
blessings,
coleen |
