David,
After making myself cross eyed, I'm now fairly sure it's just part of the design, so now I do feel kind of foolish.
QVC did come thru with that shipping label though. I can count the times on one hand (actually one finger) when the customer service from them was less than perfect, and even then they resolved the issue (delivery issue) by giving me a $10 credit to use as I pleased. You can't beat them for their customer service, and I'd rather shop with them than go to a store. |

Hey Dinah, I had to revive this after getting the Flavor Wave convection oven...just a reminder to get what you want, not necessarily what's being offered...
I had a Jet Stream oven that I loved and used for years until it finally died on me and I had to put it into the junk room. After another few years, I remembered how much I loved the taste of food cooked in it and started looking for a replacement....didn't think of the name of the appliance that I loved...saw a commercial for the Nu-Wave oven on TV and checked it out on-line...very few good reviews but the Flavor Wave oven had lots of good things said about it. I bought it and have used it three or four times in the couple of months that I've had it...it's cumbersome to use and clean but does a good job. When I thought about writing this note, I checked online for the Jet Stream; and sure enough, it's still being made, but twice as expensive as the one I bought...I wish I had remembered the name of the gadget I loved and had bought it... Oh well, it still bakes a chicken better than the oven...get's more fat out of the bird.
So just remember, if you want a gadget...get what you want...not another one because it's cheaper, or flashier...

good advice Mary. I feel ya. you gonna replace it? My youngest is getting married in May, and I'd love to get them a kitchen aid mixer, and i'm sure they wont appreciate it now, but will love it over time.... still thinkiing about it.... why go with average when you can get the best??? been there, done that....
but I do realize that your budget dictates most of the time. _________________ Dingie Dinah

Well, Dinah, here it is two months later and I can finally post a reply to yours (and yeah we are going to win in 2010) I love your comments.
I have retired the Flavor-Wave (another hundred bucks on the shelf) unless I'm going to be cooking a roast (not likely for just the two of us) or a whole chicken (even less likely as the DH won't eat chicken except for an occassional breast) and bought a new grill...the West Bend Chris Freytag grill...only $58 on the Q and know I'll use it much more frequently. I don't do the charcoal grilling anymore, too many carcenogens and too much trouble to fire up for just the two of us.
So, again I'll say Think carefully before you buy the new gadgets. This coming from the original gadget girl. Keep up the good work, you're doing a great job.

Love, love, love the new grill, however, I dug out the Nu-Wave this week to roast a whole chicken. Still works good but I use the grill every day or so. However, I was on the Q last Sunday for David's show and they had a close-out on a crepe maker...couldn't resist it and am expecting it any day. I'm getting ready to cook George's crepe recipe as I recently discovered (after 50 years) that my DH likes crepes and they are something I can make up in advance and leave in the refer for him...plus, he'll never know they're not the wheat flour thingie...
