Just a note to you folks with slug problems (which I once had something awful) Take your old egg shells each time you use an egg, wash it in a little soapy water and then place them in a bucket or large bowl with a lid. Then crush them up and sprinkle them around your flowers, snails won't cross them as it cuts them up. Also a well known tip is to buy a bottle of the cheapest beer you can find, get some little dollar tree specials (you know the mini sit on the ground animal bird feeders) or a small saucer and pour beer in it at night. In the morning, you won't believe how many of them that died a drunken death! Be sure to keep dead vegetation off of the ground. Also last tip on slugs and this works for us every time! Snails because of an electric shock, can not cross copper. We nailed small strips of copper around the tops of our wooden beds and the snails can not and have never gotten through! The best thing natural I have found also if you really don't want to kill the snails is to do what I have done and that is to buy a couple heads of the purple and green "ornamental cabbage", plant it in a predominant location in your bed and the snails mostly eat that over a month or two leaving my other plants alone! Try these tips and you can say good bye snails.
**** a snail went to a dealer ship and wanted to buy a car but he was very specific about the requirements. He told the salesman he would buy the vehicle but he wanted the letter s painted on top, front back and sides. The salesman did as the snail ask and upon delivery asked the snail why he wanted such an unusual paint job. Here is another tip you might try. I have NO idea if it works tho!!! Got this in an email. So who knows.

4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices of cucumber in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.
