Okay, I've been lurking way too long because I fell off the bandwagon! I decided to get back on and went grocery shopping this weekend. Also, I threw out everything in my pantry that wasn't "legal" so that I wouldnt falter!
Money is tight for me right now. I had cancer in the past (two years in remission now) and batteling back from all that debt. Then I had to put $585 into my vehicle for brakes and rotors this past weekend!
I really want to do this way of life, so for me the budget comes out of necessity. I went shopping and stocked up on butter, eggs, salad vegetables and chicken (it was on sale). The total was......
.....$43.42!
Anyway, that is my goal....less than $50 a week. Week 1 in the books. Now to make some of that juicy chicken in George's book! LOL!

That is awesome news that you have been in remission for 2 years. I hope that you will continue down that road for a lifetime!
I think that we can enjoy the SS of life without going broke. It's common sense to buy what's on sale and in season. Hopefully, we'll all be saving now that some veggies are in season. I'm waiting for my Amish neighbors to pass some extra zucchini my way...LOL. I want to try the loaded zucchini bites in one of George's cookbooks. I've gotten lucky with the cost of some of the more pricey ingredients. We have a few damaged goods stores here and I've found almonds, almond flour, flax meal, soy flour, and pecan meal all very low priced. And I have a neighbor that sells me eggs for .75 a dozen.
I've fallen off the wagon also. Too many birthdays, and unfortunately funerals, with too much good food...and me with little will power. But I'm slowly getting myself back on track and you'll do great also. Budgeting also gives us incentive to only buy what is good for us. Why spend $4 on a bag of chips when fresh veggies taste so much better?? LOL
Anyway, Good Luck BethAnn. I think I'll start keeping track of what I'm spending also. I'm unemployed for the summer and unemployment doesn't go very far.
