Hello,
Started back 100% SStyle yesterday and though slept most of the day due to migraine, I still went to bed earlier than usual early this morning and was having difficulty sleeping and thought that since didn't have dinner probably hungry, so got up and was going to make an omelet and thought would wait til breakfast for that, so about 2am or 3am this morning I made a soy protein drink, with just soy protein powder and chocolate flavored powder and was good {would have been better in my blender with some frozen fruit and soy milk but didn't want the carbs} I then was able to get a little sleep and woke up early with son for school and stayed awake instead of going back to bed, as to keep me awake and get back on a more normal schedule.
The odd thing when woke up this morning felt very shaky and dizzy and not sure why, maybe withdraw ? So I made an omelet w/4 eggs, but only used one yolk, not real fond of them but they are good for us, anyway, after eating it still felt a bit shaky and started to get better but took about 1/2 hour after eating.
Since then, I started to get red in the face off and on and then settled down a bit. I did grab a peace of american cheese which normally don't eat, I only use provolone or mozzarella or feta in omelets, I need to be careful of sodium intake also, after eating the one slice decided not to eat more and thought maybe the sodium was an issue for some reason.
Maybe will take a few days to a week from what I remember to feel better, but was kind of a scary morning, and almost gave in and ate some granola bars but knew that wouldn't be the best decision.
So, instead thought to write here and vent a bit.
I do believe I may be borderline diabetic or who knows maybe diabetic, I do have hypoglycemia and have had that for many years, and do remember the doctor saying that if kept hypo controlled that I should be fine, however, if not careful could turn into diabetes.
I take too many chances with my blood sugar and need to stop because too much sugar will make my vision blurry, cause me to be anxious and well just don't want that anymore. I'm going to have blood work done soon, I have the order, but I do want to wait a couple weeks on program or so before going. If I waited this long and if I do well on my program, I may be able to get better numbers.
Thanks for listening, any advice welcomed.
Hugs,

Hmmm,,,,,, Not sure what caused all this. Could be carb withdrawal I suppose.
Other possibilities (and may be more than 1 thing going on, rather than just 1 issue)..... Not sure how much you ate during the day, but if you are hypoglycemic, you may not have eaten enough. I have or have had hypoglycemic tendencies, and found that I needed protein if I had problems (headache, shaky, etc.). NOT sugar as they used to suggest! Tho back in my high carb days, I would often eat a snickers bar, as it had a good blend of protein (nuts) & sugar. Other than those, if I ate sugary stuff, I'd get sick! The headache could have been withdrawals, but it may have been your needing more protein, or food in general. If you are hypoglycemic or diabetic, you should be sure to eat enough!!!!
Sorry, my mind just went blank, and if I had more to mention to you, I'm now blank.
Oh, one thing is, I don't know how old you are. Not sure if you could be experiencing hot flashes (actually age has nothing to do with this. I experienced night sweats from the time I was pregnant with my first child, when I was in my early 20's.) What you described sounds a lot like either a fever, or a hot flash. Are you by any chance starting to take Niacin? Niacin can cause hot flushes! The only time my sister has ever had a "hot flash" is when she was taking Niacin. (She's almost 60, and had a hysterectomy when she was 43.) Just a thought!!
Just remember, be sure you eat enough!!! Eat a few nuts (if you aren't allergic), cheese, whatever good carbs along.
Hang in there!!! _________________ Billie

Thanks Billie,
One thing for sure is sometimes I don't eat enough and if I'm sleeping alot just may wake up feeling out of sorts. Maybe if I ate more often wouldn't have such highs and lows.
Don't want to give up and have to start all over again, so maybe will start setting alarm on cellphone to remind me to eat, even if not really hungry, it's just to prevent from feeling so bad and then eventually will start feeling better and will just eat when hungry. It's all an adjustment, just forgot how bad the withdraw process can be.
Thanks for the advice. Not sure about hot flashes, could be

we are not doctors and just for precaution PLEASE see a dr as soon as possible. Diet can help but your health is nothing to play guessing games with. You seem to think there may be an underlying health issue and since i always say that we are the best judge of ourselves, you must believe in yourself and get the proper testing by a dr asap. Low Carb is a great way to keep healthy but you must make certain that you are well to start with.
With the history you describe, this is nothing to wait on. We welcome you back and will support you for all you need in the way of healthy eating but it is YOU who ultimately must make sure you are well and healthy so we can have you around here as our friend for a long time to come!!! Just do it, it is absolutely time!!!! Love ya! Geo _________________ Starting: 467 Current: 205 Goal: 190

Thank you George for your concern. What I've found out is that without a doubt is my low blood sugar or beginning of diabetes, not sure which.
What I found on coming back to this way of eating is that found myself not eating enough, though thought was eating plenty, without the grains and beans that was eating and getting carbs that way, just wasn't getting enough and would wake up in middle of night to eat so could sleep, but wasn't getting enough regardless of that middle of night meal.
After posting the last message, even though had ate a large omelet with lots of vegetables and some cheese, found myself not feeling satisfied, so started drinking lots of water and that helped a bit, but not really.
So, seems to me that this is withdraw and with that feeling have decided this time going through withdraw and knowing can last a week or so decided don't want to feel this way right now, so need to rethink my decision to come back to SStyle at this time.
This Program works, however, I believe not ready to totally commit to this right now, I need more energy, and have gone back to my vegetarian diet and feeling better. I lost 40 pounds recently starting out that way and think best to continue.
I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome back to this group and wish you all the best always.

Elizabeth, we wish you well and hope you will consult a Dr for ANY meal plan you choose. And since vegetarian recipes are also low carb too, I see no reason for you to leave at all, the support here is for anyone and everyone who wants to make healthier food and life choices--as ann individual.
That's why I have vegetarian categories in 4 of my books along with sides and vegetables too! When you're cooking with color--you're eating healthy" is one of my favorite saying and it ain't talking about chicken or steak I believe in 3 to 5 veggies with dinner and when I can't do that, at least I know I will get 2 on the plate! Anyhows...if you look around I think you will find sage advice for ANY lifestyle, especially in the grocery shopping section at the top left of the homepage. And even on vegetarian diets you still need to be looking at cutting out the white stuffs and opting for whole grains, legumes etc and getting away from...sugar. So maybe we will see ya 'round, what have you got to "Lose"
Love Ya!

George,
Thank you so very much for taking the time to write me.
I feel a little embarassed, because totally wasn't thinking in that way of vegetarian and SStyle. Of course I can still do the program, because I'm allowing myself to have egg whites w/some yolk on ocassion, fish and tofu, {not strict vegetarian, don't eat fish every day, and try not to eat dairy: lactose intolerant} I just wasn't sure about the beans since they were my saving grace on my recent weight loss. [
I will be checking the books for the recipes and looking on line re vegetarian options.
You were right George re the white stuff, because I had some potatoes today and did get dizzy, well had some cranberry sauce only small amount and some green beans and afterwards little lightheaded and didn't feel as well as earlier in morning before I ate.
So yes, no more white stuff and if want cranberry can use recipe from your thanksgiving meal that was posted.
Okay, I understand and am very impressed that you took the time to show me that can still do program as vegetarian an then still get the support and recipes from the site and fellow SStyler's.
I'm on a mission now to get out your books and look on line for suggestions re beans. I did see soy beans are allowed. However, the ones that help me the most are garbanzo beans.
Thank you again George, you really are a great man and really go above and beyond to help people.
All my best to you and your family for all that you do to help others.
Hugs,

What George said!!!
There are (or have been) people on here who were doing low carb vegetarian. And since you aren't strict vegetarian or vegan, it would be even easier.
It would be so much healthier even if you are just lower carb, and stay away from the sugar & starches (white flour, corn, etc.) No one says you have to be a certain type of low carb. We have all types of low carbers here!
If you need your beans and whole grains, then eat them! But we still welcome you here!!! (And by the way you mentioned green beans,,, they are good on low carb!!! I eat them all the time. One of my staple foods!!!)
You know your own body, and you are and should be in control! No one can tell you what you have to or cannot eat! Eat what you feel is best for you!
Hope you won't abandon ship on us! Please continue to come here. Let us help you and give you support. _________________ Billie

Hi Billie,
Thank you very much for your support. I really didn't think of it as such, and am glad that George wrote and explained this to me.
Guess I was thinking that had to eat alot of fats ie: meats, dairy to be on ths wol, but isn't so, and now I'm feeling better.
Thanks again Billie
