Hi! I am not new to the George Stella cookbooks. I've had them for years. They are just wonderful, and I love his approach to eating - not counting carb grams, etc. in every little thing. I am on the South Beach Diet, and I have to say, the recipes fit in PERFECTLY with my way of eating.

Questions though. This forum was VERY hard to log in to. I finally figured that you have to log out of the home page to log into the forum, but I fear many people who join this website will just give up. Can you make it easier for us newbies?

Also, I heard there will be a new website? Is that true?

I have my tv scheduled to record George on Oz this Friday. Nice to meet you all!

Hi Sheryl! The website is being rebuilt around you! You may not see the changes at first but if you go to the links, many have been updated -like the RECIPES link at the top of every page! It now has all new recipes from the newest book that is not even being shipped yet! Also the "Old" recipes have been completely updated and made better!!!! And the site mechanics have been overhauled so it can load 5x faster and not crash...all that said...the Forum is over 10 years old and has a wealth of over 20 thousand answers to questions avail by using the search box and for that reason it is not being changed much other than to run properly.

The Forum is hosted seperately from the main site and therefore you must sign-in on the Forum seperately to post. You do NOT however have to log-out of the main page site, just sign-in for both. Hope this helps and great to see ya 'round!
George

Hi Sheryl,
I just joined today and am looking forward to changing my lifestyle to low carb eating because I have tried tons and tons of diets to no avail. Little by little I have gained 90 lbs over the past 20 years and it has finally caught up with me. I need some kind of a set up eating plan to get started, do you know if there is one on this site? I am hoping to meet some new people also. Drop me a line when u can. Maybe we can keep trac of one another along the way. Take care JoAnn Smile

George, I do hate to "argue" (can't think of the word I want to use) with you, but we are still often having problems logging in here & posting if we are logged in to the main page/section. I just tried it to see if it had been fixed & I just didn't know it. Nope still had to log out of the main site to be logged in here & be able to post. It is still a problem. Crying or Very sad
I think that IS one of the reasons we are not getting a lot of posters. They are having troubles with the loggin loop!
Sheryl, there is a sticky here near the top of this forum that discusses that problem, but people don't seem to see it. Not much else we can do I'm afraid. But as George said, they are rebuilding the site, and hopefully eventually that will be fixed. Evidently George thought it had been.
Some how I missed seeing this post till just now. I try to check every day (several times a day) for new posts, but missed this one. (It happens!)

to the site, and our Stella Style family Sheryl!!!

I'm sure you will like it here. Lots of good tips, info, recipes, and support.

Be sure to check out the recipe section. Wonderin about something, check out the search.
It's under Forum on the bar above. Also check out the help from the toolbar, and there is a Help forum also. You'll find a lot of answers there. Because of spam & bad posts being able attack this section, it has been closed to new posts, but it is still there to browse, glean answers from. (No spam there now.) Most problems have been addressed there. There is a sticky of FAQs in the General forum. It has links to lots of as the name says Most Frequently Asked Questions about Stella Style WOL!!!. For that matter be sure to check out all the stickies when you have a question. Good chance it may have been answered in the FAQ's or other stickies.

Check out the home page:

Grocery Shopping

Success Stories

Lots of good info there.

I've been gone for a while, so how nice to log in and see George's and others' answers!

Thanks George! I have always loved your recipes and style of eating. Because I needed some more structure I followed South Beach for a while, but now I'm following Dr. Rob Thompson's Glycemic Load Diet - still no counting carb grams, etc., but not so neurotic about saturated fats the way South Beach Diet is. For me, limiting bad carbs is most essential.

I love all George's books...I have yet to order the new one, but I will! I guess I'm hoping for it to show up on amazon.com as I'm a prime member and don't pay for shipping.

Well, I hope everyone is having a great day! I hope to post more often now! Sheryl

p.s. I can't believe I never noticed the "recipes" link on top before! How generous of George to post these. Like I said, I love his recipes and they fit in perfectly with the way I eat.

And the Oz show was fabulous. What a wonderful family.

George needs another cooking show, for sure.

Sheryl, finding what works for you is what is important! Hope you've found it. South Beach works for some people, but I do not think it would work for me. Like you said too little fat. And I don't think I could eat some of the foods they allow, and lose. I think I would gain. But everyone is different, and that is one of the reasons there are so many different types of Ways of Eating out there.

George has always been about helping others! Thank you George & family!!

Tho his newest book may (and I did say may) eventually go on sale at Amazon, I don't think it will be for quite some time. QVC has an exclusive on it right now. George mentioned something about that in one of the posts, but I can't remember where or just what he said right now.

Glad you could get back in & post an update. Hang in there!!! And please keep coming back. (Even if we keep having problems. It will get fixed. May be fixed now!) Keep us updated on how you are doing!

Here you go. Such a great article about the dangers of refined carbs, NOT fats.

Sheryl, Congrats on the weight loss!! And thanks for the link to the article. We have been "brainwashed" for so long that fat is bad for us. Yes we can overdo (or over eat) anything! But we need fat in our diet to be healthy! Some of us actually need more fat than others. That is true of many things! Some need a lot more fiber than others, etc.

As for the book, here is the post that George did that talked about the book availability. I think his post is a few posts down. So, I'm not really sure when it will be available elsewhere. It is after all Feb, and the book will start mailing next week to those who have already pre-ordered it. Woo Hoo!

PostPosted: Mar Wed 28, 2012 4:35 pm    Post subject: BATHing in FAT!! Reply with quote

Bathing in FAT????? Not literally, but I may as well be! I'm using coconut butter on my skin cooking in evoo, canola, and butter, taking OMEGA 3 fish oil capsules, AND eating high fat foods! All that's left is a good mayo treatment in my hair and a full fat milk or cream bath! How can this be? Half of my life was punctuated with warnings about fat making us fat. Now I eat fat to lose fat! Oh the IRONY!

When I think of those who died early of heart disease, I now know it was from combining a lifestyle of high funky carbs WITH proteins and fats. Live smart and learn...or live wrong and die early. Sad but true. Crying or Very sad

I think of George's Rachel reading Dr. Atkins crumpled book in the kitchen and laughing hysterically at the idea of losing weight by eating all the fats they love and enjoy with LCing. What a leap of faith to know you were going all in...to either finish off your own life and your family's OR to actually drop lbs to save your life by eating all the rich yummies!
