I have a question, has anyone tried Relacore, and if they have, what are the pro's and con's??? I'll explain later as to why I'm asking, cause I gotta get home right now. Just thought I'd throw this out here. _________________ Dingie Dinah

Ok, here's why I threw this thread out here. My boss, the one with the pants, gave me a bottle of Relacore that he started on but didn't finish. That was last Thursday, I think. The first day I took the recommended dosage, 2 - 3 times a day, and was SO mellow I couldn't hardly function!!! LOL But the next day I started taking 1 - 3 times a day, and I swear to you, I've never felt better in my life! I suffer from panic attacks and depression, and have for years, but I'm so chilled out now, I can focus at work like never before, the hectic pace doesn't get to me and make my heart race, and I have had energy left over when I get home in the afternoons!!
I know this stuff is expensive to buy on the internet, but Walmart has it for $20.
AND, I really think I'm beginning to see a difference in my belly fat.
I would love to hear what everyone thinks of this stuff. Especially you medical heads out there! _________________ Dingie Dinah

Relacore™ a Proprietary Blend of: Magnolia (bark) SE, Passion Flower (herb) SE, Scutellaria (root) SE, Niacinamide, DHEA, Panax Ginseng (root), Pinella (tuber), Poria (fungus), Jujuba (fruit), Perilla (leaf), and Phosphotidylserine. Not only is cortisol linked with the storage of abdominal fat, it's also been linked to all kinds of health problems, including diabetes, heart disease and depression. Cortisol may also weaken your immune system, leaving you more susceptible to colds and flu. Cortisol has been shown to exert hyperphagic and antithermogenic effects . In other words, it promotes overeating while blunting the normal rise in your metabolic rate that occurs after a meal. Here are the comments on Relacore's main ingredient-Here's what Supplement Watch has to say about Magnolia bark...
"... a small dose of honokiol, or a magnolia bark extract standardized for honokiol content, can help to "de-stress" you without making you sleepy, while a larger dose might have the effect of knocking you out. When compared to pharmaceutical agents such as Valium (diazepam), honokiol appears to be as effective in its anti-anxiety activity, yet not nearly as powerful in its sedative ability."
Relacore™ has provided many with a reduction of stress levels. When looking at the formula, Relacore™ seems to be a little thin on active ingredients, supporting antioxidants, and overall balance. When considering weight-loss, Relacore™ does not seem to provide enough in their formula to effectively increase the metabolism. Relacore™ website says, "In conjunction with a sensible diet and exercise program, Relacore™ helps control stress-induced Cortisol production, thereby helping to reduce belly fat." In 2002, the food and drug administration sent a letter to basic research, doing business as the carter-reed company, which read the claim that Relacore™ helps prevent stress related abdominal obesity suggests Relacore™ is intended to treat, prevent, or mitigate disease, namely obesity. The Fda said to the company it can't do that, unless it gets evaluated as a drug, which would mean, showing it's clinical trials. Since then, the FDA told us it hasn't yet followed up on the letter, and Relacore™ keeps making the claim. You could reverse stress and inversely reduce obesity in the sense that if you're stressed less than you eat less, if you're a stress eater, but I again see no data that Relacore™ inversely will decrease your weight. To me it is a marketing tool. If you want to try just the Magnolia bark you can get it here a lot cheaper and with the same reults http://www.arcadiaherbsandalternatives.com/singles/herbs/magnoliabark.htm?gclid=CL_T6q6kiIkCFTM7GgodFTE67A
Here is aloso a very informative site as well on this magnolia bark.

I hate to rain on anyones parade and also to say that a "Wonder Pill" doesn't exist. As I said above if it works for you, then that is fine! Dinah, I am sure that this has helped your moods as it has been reported in our AMA journal as being more effective for mood elevations than weight loss and as said above, from the magnolia bark. Please always check with your doctor BEFORE adding or making changes in your medications or supplements! Just my 2 cents worth her and hope it helps! | Wow, David thank you for the informative post. I have been wondering about it too. It is interesting that it contains passion flower because that is also anti anxiety but again I would think it would take a lot of it to really calm you. I will tell my sis about the magnolia bark and I will consider trying that first before the relacore, but I am glad it is helping Dinah. I would like to hear from her down the road to see what results she gets. |

I don't know why, but I just saw this response. Thanks ever so much for your diligent work David. But I must say, I do feel better taking it. But as far as the belly fat thingie, I think I agree that it's a crock. I just bought another bottle, but when that is gone, I'll look into that bark stuff. especially if it's cheaper and doesn't add a bunch of other stuff I don't need. I'm still taking only 1-3 (usually 2) a day instead of the recommended 6. I see a marked improvement in how I handle the stress of work, the holidays, bills being paid, kids running me crazy, etc etc. Ya'll know how it is. And I notice I don't drink as much coffee!
Anyway, I appreciate ya david! Many HUGZZZZZZZZZZZZZz _________________ Dingie Dinah

As always Dinah, you are most welcome as you are too Donna! The only way we learn is from each other. I just happened to have that article in the AMA journal I got. Let me know if ya try the Magnolia Bark and how it works out! Glad you are destressing Dinah and feeling better! That is always a plus at this time of the year, David _________________ Praise loudly, blame softly and treat each person you meet as a brother or sister!

I'm not sure how I missed the updates on this. Dinah, you said you missed it for several day. Well, I missed it for almost a month! Guess there was just a lot going on back when David answered it, then Donna & you! At any rate, I have just now found it, by doing a search on diabetes. I hadn't seen it post again since I replied.
Thanks for the info David!! And the update Dinah!! _________________ Billie

[quote="Dingie_Dinah"] And I notice I don't drink as much coffee!
Dinah, Dinah, Dinah, PLEASE don't tell me your STILL drinking regular coffee and having heart palps/panic attacks
About 8 years ago I was having terrible attacks, it was so bad that I was suprised that people couldn't see my heart pounding in my chest.
I stopped caffeine and Thank God, I haven't had another attack since (saying this quietly while knocking on wood ) It would also explain your not sleeping well at night.
Just a thought... |

I only drink a couple cups of coffee in the mornings, and it's 1/2 reg and 1/2 decaf. I do not drink softdrinks at all any more, rarely if ever drink reg iced tea. My drink of choice is WATER!!! (and occasionally a miller lite or 3.... hehehehe)
Thanks for your concern tho! Actually quit taking the relacore a long time ago. I'm just not a pill popper by any stretch of the imagination! _________________ Dingie Dinah
