Sorry Angie, but I'm just now finding your question. It was posted during the time that I could barely get on, and then when I did, could barely stay on. I tried to catch up when I finally started being able to get in, but guess there were some I missed.
Now for the question. Sorry, I can't answer that. I've never made a savory version. I have eaten these with my eggs for breakfast, but used my recipe above. Sorry I couldn't help. Maybe someone else has made a savory version.
Sorry, can't answer your's either Tammy. I can't stand imitation banana and don't care for blueberry, so don't even look for those.
I think I've heard people say that they sometimes find the banana at WalMart tho. Not sure. LorAnn makes lots of flavors, and they have a website. http://www.lorannoils.com/Products.asp?CategoryID=3&SubColumnName=Flavorings
They used to have a store locater, but I can't find it now. Their oils are very concentrated. They are also sold at www.Netrition.com. _________________ Billie

Hey Tammy,
IMHO, the Lorann oils are the best and I'd go with those given the choice. Before mail/internet ordering, though, go to the website and check to see if there are any local places that sell the oils. I did that and found a place right down the street from me who sells them-it's a baking and candy making supply store.
http://www.lorannoils.com/cgi-bin/find_retailer.cgi
You can also find imitation flavors in the baking section at the grocery store near the vanilla and food coloring.
Hope this helps.
And thanks Billie. But I made them and decided I didn't like them, savory or not....lol. _________________ Angie

Thanks for the link Angie, but it does't appear to be working now. It comes up, but doesn't seem to have any stores "listed". I tried my state of WY & nothing. I'm close to CO, so I tried that - nothing. Then I started trying other states, I tried several - all nothing.
I had tried to find that link last night, as I knew I had seen it before. I had even found stores in my area, tho I think at least one of them may have stopped carrying it at the time. (May be getting that mixed up with something else.) I couldn't find a link on the site anywhere last night for that. If you go to "Home" on the bar from this link, then go into the site, you will find the find retailer link is now missing, tho you can see it on the bar from this link. They have either stopped updating it, or are in the process of doing so.
Yes, everyone has different tastes. I don't like a LOT of things that many others like, such as those flavorings that Tammy mentioned. _________________ Billie

What the heck? Well maybe she can go up to "contact us" and send an email or call the toll free number. _________________ Angie

| Jenny, I finally tried these muffins and they are great. I can see that you can add to or adjust the recipe very easily. I am going to have them with Dinah's breakfast casserole this week. I had gotten tired of eggs but if I can have some bread with it, it is a totally new breakfast. Thanks, donna |

I really do not like to eat eggs everyday because I love SWEETS! Ok, so I found this recipe for Flax Seed pudding, and it is absolutely delicious. I get the egg in the morning to fill me up, as well as a sweet- cinnamon and sugar.
Flaxseed Pudding:
2 tbsp Flax Meal
1 egg
2 packages Artificial Sweetener
Lots of Cinnamon!
Mix all together microwave for 2-3 min until tender and cooked like pudding. |

These are my absolute favorite lately. I made a batch over the weekend and tweeked the flavor---not a big cinnamon lover. I made mine like a lemon poppy seed muffin. I added vanilla, lemon extract, and a tsp. of poppy seeds. Also made a cream cheese topping. Just cream cheese, lemon extract, and a little spenda. Put a little of this on top of of my morning muffins---had 2! This is fabulous---try it! Thanks so much Jenny!! _________________

Rachel,
Thanks for bumping this up. They look wonderful.
As always, I'm out of just one ingredient......... heavy cream. Does anyone know if these would work with half and half? I do have that in the house.
Thanks everybody, and thank you again Rachel. These are on my definitely to do list. |

Anne, I'm just now finding this, so a little late, but still the same day at least. lOL
I don't see why the 1/2 & 1/2 wouldn't work. I'm sure it would work fine.
I haven't made these in a long time. I used to make them a lot.
Funny how different people's tastes are. I much prefer the cinnamon to lemon. I'm not adverse to lemon, but not crazy about lemon cakes, pies, muffins, cheesecake, etc either. I NEVER put lemon in my cheesecake. (I love cheesecake, and would eat it if it were lemon, if not too heavy on lemon, but sure would prefer it without!) But we all do have different tastes, and so to each his/her own. _________________ Billie

Billie, I went ahead and gave it a try with the half and half and they came out fine. I would have liked more of the raspberry flavor, but they were good anyhow. Tasted sort of like gingerbread to me.
Here's what they looked like while still in the pan.
The nuts are on top because I forgot to put them into the batter, and had to grab the pan out of the oven (had just put them in, less than a minute before), so I just tossed some on top and put the whole thing back in to bake. |
