I have spent the last few days in utter exhaustion. Debilitating exhaustion. I don't know whats going on with me, but my gut instinct is my thyroid.

I just got a copy of my labs from 4/25 when the dr said everything was normal. I just don't feel normal! In the last few months I've been having trouble swollowing, and get chocked a lot.

Anyone know about labs???? This is what mine were on 4/25.

Glucose 96 fasting ref interval 69-99 mg/dl

Thyroid Peroxibase Antibodies <2 <2 iu/ml ??????

t-4,Free 1.2 .8-1.6 ng/dl

TSH 2.21 .4o - 5.50

T3, Free 274 230 - 420 pg/dl

I have no idea what these mean. They are all within "normal" range, but could my numbers have changed drastically since then? I hate feeling stoopid about this stuff. I just feel soooo weak, and having heart palputations and chest pains. My sis said she had that too, until she got her synthroid straightened out.

Any advice will be taken seriously!!!! I've already called my endocrinologist, whom I was not totally impressed with. I've also got the name of another endocrinologist on the other side of nashville, but if he's good, I don't mind driving. I'm checking insurance info now, and hopefully before the end of the day I'll have an appointment SOMEWHERE!!!

Could this just be hormones??? Fibro??? Usually when I have a fibro attack, I feel like I have the flu, with a temperature and muscle aches, along with the total exhaustion. No temp, and no muscle aches. My blood pressure is fine, if not a little lower than usual.

Any ideas???? I'm desperate!!

Dinah... I suffered with my hypothyroid for YEARS before I knew what it was... extremem lethargy, depression (which I hid from my family completely), etc...

I don't know what all the different numbers mean, but I do know that I still felt tired, etc even after I was on meds from my Dr.... I started taking thryoid and adrenal supplements and feel sooooo much better with more energy, etc. A lot of times the Dr's will say that your thyroid is ok, when in fact it's not. The tried and true way to test is to do the temperature check every morning b4 you get out of bed. Test under your armpit and if you are AT ALL below 98.9 every day for a week then you have a thyroid problem. Low body temperature (caused by low thyroid) can cause all kinds of other problems because your body temp is not high enough to kill certain bacteria in your body. Anyway... if you want more info eme Dinah at shannon@rustecat.com - I think I have some websites on my home computer. In the meantime, I've listed a link I found recently... good luck Hon... I know feeling tired all the time sux! Confused

Thanks Shannon. I know I've whined about this before, but this time I really feel like my feet have been kicked out from underneath me! And it couldn't come at a worse time of year. If I didn't have so much to do at work, I'd be home in bed!!

I've bookmarked that site. Thanks for sending it. I've done the temp thing by mouth with a basal thermometer, and I'm consistantly around 97 degrees. I've charted it and showed my endo, and he was like, "so?". Me thinks I need a new dr.

Oh well, thanks for replying. Back to work. ARGH!!!

You DEFINITELY are hypothyroid if you're consistently at 97 degrees... and I agree... you need a new Doctor! Smile Go see that new endocrinologist! Good luck Dear!

Hi Dinah ~ I just read your post here for the first time. Have you been able to find anything out about the new endo since you first posted?

I've been going to my endo for about 10 years now. I started out hyper-thyroid (over active) and have to have my thyroid ablated (killed) - twice. It was a resistant little gland...

My endo goes mainly by my symptoms even if my numbers are within the normal range. You can see that is quite a range! On the TSH alone the range is 0.40 - 5.00. My dr. says that leave plenty of room for playing around with synthroid dosage.

So then - are you on synthroid. I'm thinking you are not?

And not to further muddy the waters - but you mentioned hormones. Yes, it could be that too... My endo didn't want to help me with those, so luckily my Gyn is 'cutting edge' here in town for Bioidentical HRT, and I'm working on getting those balanced.

Keep us posted, okay? I hate getting blown off and not taken seriously! Especially when you're feeling so out of whack Mad

Hiya Deb. Yes, I got in with a new Endo on the 17th of October. They say his bedside manner isn't the best in the world, but if he's good, I don't care. My bed side manner isn't be best either!

I'm feeling a bit better, just not great. I actually had a little energy this weekend.

Thyroid problems run in my family. I'm the only female left on my mom's side of the family who still has one! My sister had surgery to remove her's back in April. She was so lucky to find an Endo who was really good! Actually, her ENT, who she's been going to since she was 12 yrs old, is married to the Endo she went to.

I'm not taking anything for thyroid except Thyroid Complex by Doctor's Trust. I think Jenny turned me on to this. I'm just HORRIBLE about taking pills tho. But I'm sure if the synthroid helped, I'd be SURE to take that religiously!

Anyway, thanks for your input. Hopefully I'll have some answers in 3 weeks.

HUGZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
