An endometrial ablation is an outpatient surgical procedure that destroys the uterine lining. This procedure is an alternative to a hysterectomy. I had never heard of this until my doctor recommened it to me. I had the surgery in December of 2005. It has been wonderful, they say it takes about year to completely heal. I want to share the web site with all the women here, that way they know there is other things out there besides a hysterectomy.
I have copied the web site URL, it is more of a discussion group but just reading all the information that other ladies have to share is VERY helpful.
NO question on the site is forbidden as you will read.
I had the Ablation done in 2000. It's the ONLY way to go!
I don't know about taking a year to heal..?..
There's no pain with this 20 minute procedure. What they
do is cauterize the lining of the uterus. I was up & out of
the hospital 2 hrs. later..It is surgical, so I spent most of that
time in recovery.
My Gyno said about 30% of all hysterectomy's are done
needlessly. This procedure has been done since 1985.
Why most doctor's don't tell you the alternatives I don't
know. Having a hysterectomy is very drastic, if it's not
necessary.. Thank's for the site sawcnw! Ilene
