Okay, okay, after Dinah's confession and meltdown yesterday I think all of us Peri-Meno-Bombers (a play on baby boomers) need a place to cry, complain and compare. Okay?
Spew it here, all Peri-Meno-Bombers Welcome!
And how do you know if you are a Peri-Meno-Bomber? Hmmmmm, hormonal crashes - irritability - unexplained weight gain - are you 40 or 50 something? _________________ Foxye

I can relate. I`m 43,i`m going through menapause, and on top of that, now I have something wrong with my jaw,and i`m having to eat soft foods, stuff i`m not suppose to be eating.I`m just really down in the dumps, feeling sorry for myself. Anyway,as soon as I have the money,i`ll have to see someone about my jaw.Hopfully it`s not to serious. But,you`s hang in there. It`s got to get better, right? All of you`s are a great group of people.Just remember that. Debbie
I thought I would post this over here too. Just coming here makes me feel better. Thanks _________________

Well, I really thought I was "over on the other side" of menopause and announced that I was going to quit taking my hormones. Should have seen the look on my husband and DD faces.
I decided not to--at least not for now. I spent time this weekend with my sister who is a little younger. We decided that the appropriate temperature for the house is 63 degrees. My Honey wears flannel even in the summer!
Oh My !

Wheeeee! These poor guys...
Well - I saw the new doctor today. He's an MD who's also a Naturopath. What a great combo. All I can say is "Wow". I wish I'd seen him years ago. My head is still spinning. If he knows HALF of what I think he knows, I'm good to go.
I go in for, what can only be, a massive blood draw tomorrow. He's testing for things I've only read about but have never had my levels tested for. I won't go on and on (who me?) But, we'll know more after my current lab tests are done.
I call him on Monday as he'll have my blood results back by then and then I see him in one month after the other results are back.
..
Debbie - I'm curious what soft food you're eating? Would baby food help you out at all? I know my brother had to eat it after breaking his jaw years back... *Ü* _________________ Started Somersizing Feb. 2001

I am not in my forties yet...so I guess I am just a *&(ch
Just kidding. Sort of. I seem to have been blessed w/ my dad's temperment. Very easy going. Too much so, sometimes. My family thinks one day, I will probably just SNAP! _________________ "I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex." Oscar Wilde

Hi Holly ~ There are so many informative books out now on hormones, which ofcourse include perimenopause, etc. You can check through your library, that's what I like to do. Then if it's indeed a book I want to add to my reference 'library', I can make that decision after I've read it. I love our library! *Ü* _________________ Started Somersizing Feb. 2001

How is everybody and the hormones?
So far, I'm really loving this new doctor of mine. I'm not on all new hormone prescriptions and I get them filled through Women's International Pharmacy in AZ (and WI). This pharmacy is quite a savings for me over using my local pharmacy...
He dropped my testosterone from 4 mg to 1 mg because I was SKY high on my blood test - that explained a lot of not 'feeling' very well - too much test - ugh! Much better now...
I'm still cycling the progesterone on days 15-25 (50 mg per day).
The estrogen is interesting. He dropped my E2 to 0.08 mg and raised the E3 to 5.0 mg. He likes a much higher E3 as he says it's the "safest" estrogen. (and I agree from what I've learned in the past, but it's also the 'weakest'). I will give this combined doseage a few more weeks and give my body time to adjust to it, but I think it's going to need to be tweaked some...
Anyway! I was just wondering how everyone else is doing with all this? *Ü* _________________ Started Somersizing Feb. 2001

Hi Deb. Happy to hear that you are feeling better and liking your new doctor. You are the most well informed person I know. You really did your research and didn't give up.
I haven't had a "bad" spell in over 2 months (knock on wood). Haven't needed my teas or acupuncture. No sweats or anything worthy of mentioning. Go figure! |

Hey Deb! Glad to hear that you are doing better and that you've found a good doctor! I'm doing great with the combo I'm using although I am going to try taking the testosterone in drops rather than cream starting December/January...just for convenience sake. But I'm still feeling great especially since I started lifting weights (my bone scan showed borderline osteoporosis) so I'm hoping that I can slow that down. Oh, yeah I also started a weekly massage and yoga classes (the massage is heavenly..I highly recommend it!) Anyway, happy to hear that you're doing well--hang in there girl!

Hi Sammy and Sandy ~ It's so good to hear that you're both doing so well!
Sandy ~ I'm curious as to the Dec/Jan time frame for switching to drops from the cream? I took sublingual drops and they are very easy! I didn't care for the progesterone drops though. Even with different flavorings, they still tasted unpleasant and they were very oily/messy - unlike the estrogen and the testosterone.
Your yoga and massage sounds wonderful! *Ü* _________________ Started Somersizing Feb. 2001

I see the gyno in December for my annual check up that's the only reason for the delay. I just don't like the way my mail in lab compounds the T cream. It puckers the skin (inner arm) so that it looks like the skin is about 100 years old. I want to continue to use the mail in service because it's convenient. I could go to the doctors' office monthly for their compounded cream (which my plan would allow me to do) but they are out at the beach and it is a traffic hassle. Also the pumps they use...you're never sure when you're going to run out I will continue to use the progesterone cream and the estrogen gel. My sister uses the T drops and is very happy with them, so I thought I should give it a go since I really don't want my arm to look 50 years older than the rest of me! |
