Hello! I am new here and decided it was time to introduce myself. I am a 36 y/o mom of 10 y/o twins( boy and girl). I have been way overweight for many years, even before having kids. About a year ago I was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome with insulin resistance. My doctor went with the scare tactics of diabetes, and that was all I needed to hear. I started off right away with cutting out sugar, white flour, white potatoes. I switched to all whole grains and started using splenda. Almost immediately the lbs. started coming off and in less than a year I have lost about 85 lbs.! I have to say I had never heard of George Stella until my Dad told me he bought me a cookbook and it would be arriving soon. When I got it, I was so excited! I had never thought to use almond flour or soy flour! I absolutely love baking and sweets and have been struggling with baked goods and wheat flour, which works sometimes, but isn't always a hit. I have found a few recipes that I stuck to, just to allow me to bake and taste sweet things. I can't wait to try to use almond flour in some of my baking! Now with the book in hand, I have tried so many of the recipes and LOVE almost all of them! I added my reviews in that thread! Thank you so much George! You have given me and my family a whole list of new foods that we can enjoy together! |
