Thanks Mary. Actually I eat cinnamon quite a bit (had it yesterday & this morning matter of fact - several times this week). I have heard that it can help blood sugars. As far as I can tell, it h as never helped, but maybe it has, & I didn't know it was helping. I do try to have it quite often.
Yes, I know I need to exercise more!!! Sigh!!! That is probably the one thing I'm not doing enough of.
Again, thanks for your input!!! _________________ Billie

well it seams you have gotten alot of reply s from this, all I can tell you is what the problem was for me. I had this very same problem and through alot of testing my blood sugars at nigh, by me or my wife we found that my blood sugar was bottoming out at night so my body was pumping in glucose to compensate, hence the higher morning readings, what worked for me was, check my blood sugar 1 hour before bed, then if it was good I would have a small snack with a few carbs, then my body had something to process while I slept. after trial and error we found out what worked for me and TADA no more morning highs, hope this helps. Remember every diabetic is diffrent, start with the base line standards and then find out what your diabetes and your body will handle.
Sincerely
In good health

Good Afternoon!
It sounds like you have dawn phenomenon http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dawn-effect/AN01213 (aka dawn effect).
I too have high morning blood glucose.
This is what I hae done to help. lower the numbers.
I walk at a moderate pace for one hour first thing in the morning. Then I eat a no carb/VLC breakfast (8am).
Lunch (12pm) Snack (3pm)
My dinner (5pm) is more of a snack size and my snack at 3pm is a bit bigger like a meal. That way I have fully digested by bedtime at 10pm.
Basically - my breakfast is no carb and dinner is light and at least 4 hours before bedtime.
