I had allergy testing on Tuesday. over 100 shots. i'm allergic to just about everything they tested for. and since friday i've been sicker than a dog. i thought at first i had a summer cold, but i'm thinking now that maybe all the crap they shot me up with has triggered a full blown allergy attack.

has anyone had this happen before?

one of the allergys is a "delayed reaction" to mold. maybe that's why it took 3 days to hit?

can anyone enlighten me on these allergy tests? this is a first for me.

My oldest daughter was tested for allergies a few years back. The process they used were drops on her back to see if there was a reaction.

Because they were able to tell pretty quick, they treated her the same day with Zyrtec, Flonase and she was also put on Singulair. She seemed to get better within a few days.

That being said, I do believe the mold reaction is closer to what you are experiencing. I once worked with a girl that had mold problems in her apartment and she was miserable with cold like symptoms for weeks.

Well, the allergy testing probably didn't help much, but I think this is just a case of crud, cause it's going around the office. My boss went home sick. Us worker bees just tuff it out.

Thanks for the reply Tammy. Did your daughter do the allergy shots, or just medication?

Dinah, I had allergy tests done in 1976. I think it was about 200 little needle sticks in my arms. Like you, I'm allergic to everything going...........mold, trees, grass, shrimp, animals (yes, I have a cat that I won't give up), and the list goes on. I've been taking allergy shots every 2 or 3 weeks since then. Usually they take you off in about 4 years, but my allergies are so bad that I will likely be on them forever. The shots actually aren't so bad. I've gotten used to them after all the years. The one thing I've learned over the years is not to take the shots if I think I might be coming down with a cold. The shots will compound the symptoms of the cold. So when I get a stuffy nose I have to figure out if it's because I need my shots or if it's the crud.

Good luck with them, Dinah. The allergy shots really do help. They've been a blessing to me.

Hugs!!!!
June

Well, I don't know if its a coincidence, or if the allergy shots themselves are making me sick. I had my "wheel" test done on Thursday, and Saturday I was sick as a dog! My nose was litterally running like a faucet, and if I sneezed once, I sneezed a thousand times. I felt a bit better yesterday, but today I have the worst earache. I think I may even go home early.

Anyway, did ya'll ever get sick from the shots themselves? My 1st "full" allergy shot is tomorrow, and I can't afford to be sick this time of year. My audit starts on Monday....

I used Zicam for allergys all day Sat & Sun and it didn't seem to help a bit.

What should I do?

Dinah,

I have come up with nothing to help you, unfortunately. Seems as though you should be able to call your allergist and ask him/her? I mean really...that's why they get the big bucks! I hope you get to feeling better soon!

I did ask them about it, and the nurse said she has heard of that happening. not much help tho! LOL

Maybe you could speak to the actual allergist? Good grief, that's what they are there for! Although you may not get any better of an answer...

You don't expect much of heroes do ya? I didn't do ANYTHING!! LOL
