Hi Everyone....
Has anyone had any depression problems......I do...it rather comes and goes and it takes it's toll on me especially with eating. If anyone has had this problem...how do you break out of it?

I do but have never been to a doc about it...I call it one of my moods (that lasts for days and days - lol). They say that exercise helps...unfortunately I just tough it out till the cycle is over but that is not the healthiest way to deal..
Hopefully someone will have good ideas for you. I keep trying to tell myself there is nothign to be down about but that doesn't work _________________ ~ Denise

Hi There....
Thank you to everyone who applied and has given excellent advice. I was on meds for it some years ago but didn't like the way it made me feel. I actually had an anxiety attack in the doctor's office once.
So....I think I am going to try exercising....dancing too. Good music (happy music) always makes me feel good.
I have started my weight program today...so far I had for breakfast....Shredded Wheat.
Talk to ya soon...Su Your Cat is soo cute.

thanks louise, guiness is actually my gf's cat but i liked the pic..
maybe they had you on the wrong meds.. my dr had to adjust mine.. i was on one brand but they didnt do anything good for me.. so we played till these and they work much better
exercise never hurts.. even if it doesnt help the depression the change in your body might make you feel better...
good luck louise _________________

There is a difference between being depressed and clinically depressed. Many people are depressed because they don't feel good. They have health problems, poor diet etc. If they felt good and had energy, they would probably feel a little more motivated. Someone who is clinically depressed never feels happy, motivated, hopeless, doesn't care. I know all too well about anti-depressants. I have a health condition. Over the years I felt depressed because I didn't feel good. Everytime you say the word depressed to the typical doctor, they're going to prescribe an anti-depressant instead of figuring out the cause. I find that very sad. Because of my bad medical care, I've been on 4 different meds. at different times over the past 10 years. I don't object to anti-depressants, but everything should be considered first.
There are some natural anti-dpressants that are just as effective as prescription for mild to moderate depression. St. John's Wort is a great one. Solaray makes one that you take once a day. Like prescription meds. it needs to be taken 4-6 weeks before noticing the full affect. L-trytophan(pharmaceutical grade) is another good alternative. Take it in the evening and it will help you sleep as well. Can take both.
My brother is Bi-polar as well. In fact he is in the hospital right now because he stopped his meds. a few months ago. This is complicated and I understand how horrible and frustrating this disease is. ~Crystal |

Well.....
I have a problem where something triggers me and I go off into depression and start crying. I have problems and certain issues that probably it would not bother anyone else. I mean that is all it takes. I do take Clonazepam for relaxing....I mean if I can't sleep or am too nervous. I have to take Depakote because i have a Seizure disorder and it also tends to put weight on me...I don't know if it is the medication or it just makes me extra hungry.

Hi Louise
If you are a woman and are suffering from depression, I would suggest reading a book called "The Thyroid Solution" by Ridha Arem, M.D. I just got through reading the chapter on depression and I was blown away. I had no idea the thyroid had so much to do with other things besides metabolism - this clearly proves the opposite. Ladies....please read the book! Incredible!!

| Coleen-The biggest users of anti-depressants are us hypo's. Pharmaceutical companies love us. Most of us on drugs don't even know it. Sad, really. |
