Hey y'all! I posted this recipe after posting my meatball recipe for Diana. My neighbors tell me this recipe is better than my chilli so it is good! Try it and let me know what you think,
David
David's Spaghetti Sauce
Ingredients
2 Pounds ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage cut into small chunks (may omit if you do use 3 pounds ground beef but I love it in it!)
2 medium yellow onions (diced)
2 Green bell Peppers (seeded and diced)
1 pound mushrooms (chopped into small chunks)
5 cloves garlic (chopped fine)
4 cans (28 oz) red diced Italian tomatoes (plain diced will work also)
2 6 oz can tomato paste (I use Hunt's Basil, Garlic and Oregano)
3 Bay leaves
1 Tablespoon Garlic powder
2 Tablespoons Oregano
1 Teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon Black pepper
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated fine)
Directions
Take Hamburger and fry it in a pan cutting it into small pieces as it frys. Add onion, and bell peppers and cook till soft, drain grease from pan, and add remaining ingredients reserving the parmesan cheese. Cook for three to four hours on low heat, stirring occasionally. Before serving, remove the bay leaves, stir in the parmesan cheese and stir, serve and enjoy!

David, this sounds sooooo good. What do you usually use it with, spaghetti squash or eggplant, or ??? I am in need of something different. We are so tired of what we have been eating and we have not have anything with spaghetti sauce in a long time.
Thanks

Betty it is so good to see you again, it has been a while! I put this on spaghetti squash, on egg plant that has been sliced and fried, on chicken that is cooked-then cover with cheese and bake till brown, on veal or on strips of cooked zucchinni that have been boiled tender. Use your imagination and make any thing you like. The veal and the spaghetti squash are my two faves! Sometimes I have been know to eat just the sauce with the meatballs too and a salad! Good luck and agin it was great to see ya posting again. Don't be astranger so long now ya hear? Eat well,

That was a sauce recipe for those with electrical outages off and on in this weather! It is heated, stirring occasionally (while the power is on) Man sometimes my fingers work quicker than my mind , oops,

Hey Dinah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe I haven't made this before. I have it on the stove as I type. But I need to know what size cans of tomatoes you use. Are they the 28 oz size or the 15 oz.
Thanks!!
