Doughnut Holes

Oil for deep frying
1 1/2 cups whey protein powder (found everywhere but check carb and fiber information)
10 pkgs. Splenda or 1/3 cup of the pourable sugar substitute
2 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup cream - maybe even a touch more to make it more like a donut batter
2 Tbsps. oil
1 tsp. vanilla - sugar free
1 egg, slightly beaten

Heat oil in a large saucepan 2 - 3 inches deep to 375 degrees. In large bowl, combine dry ingredients and mix well. Combine wet ingredients and pour into dry mixture. Mix well. Drop by teaspoon into hot oil, about 6 to 8 at a time. They get about 2" across wnen cooking and sometimes turn themselves over. Don't let them get too brown. Drain on paper toweling then you can roll them in a cinnamon/sugar (12 cup Splenda and 1 tsp. cinnamon) mix. These are sooooo good. You could also use the chocolate whey powder for a chocolatey flavor but I've never tried it. I don't remember where I got or found this recipe but I've used it forever. My DH cannot believe these are allowed with Stella weight loss approval!
