Hello. This is my first blog. Goodbye.

Just had to give this a try. It's been a great day. I even managed to upload a current picture. Not the greatest - but fun.

 Starting over.

Well, I have tried low carb, and I didn't make it my lifestyle. I fell off the low carb way of life and have been on a down hill ride for a few months now. I really need to stick to this way of eating because it is the easiest, and by far healthiest way to go. I am truly addicted to things like cream of wheat cereal, and cookies and other things like ice cream. I don't have a lot of time to cook and prepare meals ahead, and I really hate making menus. I also love to eat out. I am currently 50 yrs. old and going through the change and I have pain in my legs so exercise is not easy. With God's help, and much prayer I shall overcome this addiction. Thank you George for providing this great site where we can all get support.

For the last month or so I've been keeping a journal at

I look forward using this area to keep track of the epiphanies that come my way.

 Getting Ready

by prock929 at Friday April 22, 2005, 13:0

After floundering around in my attempts to lose this weight for a number of years now, I have decided that a low carb program will probably be best for me. Even though I lost almost 50 lbs 4 years ago on Weight Watchers, lately I have found that program nearly impossible to stick to.

I have also found that my body isn't as accepting of the abuse I have put it through as it had in the past. Where I used to be able to eat a 'ton' of high sugar foods before getting what I like to call 'the sugar buggers', now it only takes a couple of candy bars. I really need to get the sugar cravings out of my system, so I am going to try to go 'cold turkey' on the sweet stuff.

I am also going to cut out the salt. I discovered the other day that my blood pressure is a bit high. (140/90) While it hasn't been confirmed with my doctor (my mother - a retired RN took it), it is a bit of a wake-up call.

As far as what plan I will be following, I am leaning towards South Beach at this point in time. I'm going to start on Phase One on Monday.

So this weekend is going to be spent getting my kitchen ready for my new way of eating. I don't like the term diet as it implies a short term temporary way of eating. I am going to get rid of everything I can no longer eat. It sounds a bit drastic, but I think that I need to start this WOE on a clean slate.

 Lunch 2/8/05

Just broiled up a steak, sliced it thin, and spread it out over mixed greens with some chopped onions and vinegar and canola oil dressing. Put some cheeses and a few Gaeta olives out on a plate as well. One glass of red wine. Pretty typical midday meal for this work from home fan of Stella Style.

That's right. Before I posted this first entry...

...there was none.

And now there's one.

Okay, I'm done.
