My Story:
Hi all. I am happily married, a mom, slave to a very spoiled dog, a student, and work from home. Here's a little more about my journey.

In 1999 had broken free of a bad relationship and was on the road to a healthier life all around. I was down to 190 and exercising daily. I was also in college, working full time, raising my daughter, and starting a new (and healthy) relationship. I began to feel a little off and was diagnosed with high blood pressure. My BP along with allergies triggered migraines which knocked me for a loop. I had to cut back on exercise, and comforted myself with food, which sent the

In 2002, at my heaviest known weight, I decided to make some changes. At 248 pounds and size 24 (in my before pic), I started slowly, but managed to get down to 220 without much struggle, but a lot of exercise -- my video collection is HUGE, lol. After an accident in early 2003 everything stopped. I damaged three discs in my back. No more heavy workouts for me -- how could I pop in Tae-Bo when I could barely walk? I was miserable, and between the drugs, pain, and comfort food, I regained all the weight I'd lost.

Fast-forward to December 2005. I decided to change how my family and I ate and have lost weight and inches. I always noticed that I felt better on days when sugar and starchier foods were not consumed. I toyed with the idea of lower carb eating, but heard mostly bad things about it. After showing them the pictures of low carb meals from Stella cookbooks and online, hubby is 100% on board, and the kids (12 and 7 1/2) don't care as long as the food isn't "weird," lol. My official start date will be 1/1/06, but I've been clearing out the pantry for a few weeks now and have experimented with low carb desserts and snacks for the family.

Update: May 2006
After a fall, I've had to go back to my meds full time, and have been down about it. This WOE has made a huge difference in how my clothes fit, evn when the scale does not move. I'm hooked for life!

Update Jan 07
I'm out of school, have more gray hair, missing Willow, and a size smaller. I'm also stronger than I was when I first started.

Update November 2010
I regained a lot after aggravating my back again. This is what works for me, so I'm back. I'm going vegetarian low carb and think I'll have just as much fun in the kitchen as before. Maybe more fun since I'll be losing weight while I eat well.

My Tip:
Water, water everywhere! Get a large mug, fill it up, and keep it with you. I have one near my desk and have learned to keep it away from my keyboard....
Motivational Message:
Don't give up because of a bad meal, day, or week. Learn from it and move on.
