It is so difficult for me to stay strong in my lifestyle change when the other members of our household consume so many no-no foods, no matter how hard i try to stay on task i hit a road block...I will go out of my way to buy my acceptable foods and prepare my self fast go to foods. My husband and stepson will stock the kitchen with the no-no "foods" and then eat all my food first, leaving me nothing acceptable to eat. I try to explain how undermining they are being to my health but my pleas go unanswered. what to do, what to do...

I am in heaven with this new way of living, learning as much as I can. I would love to hear from other people.

I want to make a LC pasta. Will using soy flour and milled flax seed for wheat flour work?

 Passed on the Doves, today!

It was a good grocery shopping today. I went up and down the aisles, even passing the pop corn aisle ( the Indiana Brand is superb, & they have added a chocolate to the smaller bags of popcorn..

I passed on the chocolate dove candy, & nothing turned up in my shopping cart that was not against the Low Carb Program! that is a first time! I always have purchased one package of candy.. I have spent most of the day, researching the recipes on the low carb site of the Stellas. I have to figure out how to navigate the site, so I can input a photo, and familarize myself with exactly how to do this program.

I had no idea there was a web site for years now with George Stella.(I used to watch him all the time on the t.v. show.)

I have prepared a couple of veggie dishes for use Fri. & Sat. My interesting dishes were fresh fennel, & a simmering cabbage with cream & herbs. I like to try at least a new veggie every couple of weeks. I want to make this an adventure, & it helps to have the correct snacks, always available..

Ok….its been way to long since I visited Stella Style, but this fall has been a busy one. I became involved with my sons little league football team and with nightly practices and no internet access at the field…well I just fell out of the habit of checking in here.

I have a photography habit (don’t fat people avoid cameras?) and you can see the pictures I have taken at my smugmug site carlking2.smugmug.com. I still have several hundred pictures from the last 3 weeks yet to post. Its great being the Dad of a real athletic 12 year old....kind of makes you feel young at heart.

I never was a great big poster but I did enjoy reading all of your posts….my what has happened. Read about David’s accident and George’s Illness.

Well its time for a little update about my LC WOE. I continued to be faith full to the lifestyle and have continued my weight loss……I am averaging around 2.5 pounds a week and I guess I am happy with that. I busted through the 350 barrier and I am now thinking about weighing under 300. Should have that mini goal accomplished by the New Year.

FOR EVERYONE who has a lot to lose….my advice is just to adopt the WOE and never look back. If you spend every minute of the day thinking about foods you miss, things you can’t have…then you are bound to fail. I realize that I will never be able to eat Bread, Pasta, Potatoes or Rice. That leaves a load of veggies and all that yummy other stuff that exists on this WOE. I can thank George and his show and website for opening my eyes as to the things I CAN eat and maintain this lifestyle. You all might recall that I DON”T weigh except at the doctors office and only recently and reluctantly allowed a scale in the house. Instead I keep a weight loss belt. It’s my former fat belt and as I lose I punch new holes in it. Well to date I have gone down a total of 13 inches on my waist.

My BP is down 20 points, my blood lipids have improved although my Doc seems to see room for more improvement. My bad cholesterol was 145 down from 171 in august and he wants to see it at 131 with my risk factors. My good cholesterol was 56 and he thought that was good. You know you are making a believer of the Doctors when they start to ask….What do you eat?, and ask advice about their daily diet My doc eats a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I told him to ditch the Jelly and if he insists on having bread it should be no sugar added multi grain. I suggested he try macadamia butter with celery instead.

I am not out to and don’t mean to toot my horn here, but I want my weight loss to inspire anyone who has a lot to lose. When you first start….its difficult and all you can think about is how far you have to go. Shoot people didn’t even begin to notice my weight loss until I was past 50 pds!

Well that is all folks…..I PROMISE to be regular and check in often.

Rick

BTW David….I am cruising again in December!
